February 14, 2010 - Barcelona – Today sees the announcement of Xperia™ X10 mini and X10 mini pro, compact versions of Xperia™ X10, which will deliver powerful and application packed mobile phones into the industry. By introducing mobile phones that are both compact and clever, Sony Ericsson is challenging the norm and defining a brand new offering that combines high specification features with a version of Sony Ericsson’s powerful UX platform specifically designed for smaller devices.

Xperia™ X10 mini and X10 mini pro with slide out QWERTY keyboard offer an open and intuitive communication entertainment experience and build on the human curvature design philosophy debuted by the Sony Ericsson Xperia™ X10. Combining the Android platform with signature applications and a customisable UX platform, communication truly becomes entertainment with these new mobile phones. To enhance the experience, pick and choose from a multitude of applications at Android Market™ and co-create a mobile phone experience that is entirely unique. Users can go one step further and customise the home screen’s four corners and widgets to access the most needed applications for limitless possibilities.

The two sister mobile phones incorporate the signature application Sony Ericsson Timescape™ which brings all communication together in one place so users can see at a glance text messages, missed calls, and Facebook™ and Twitter updates, without having to open lots of different applications. The interactive music player also uses the “infinite button” to pull together all music content from the music store and YouTube™ – a smart way to search for new tracks from a favourite artist.

Hi all! Great discussion here! Glad to see that it’s kept nice and polite even though the subjects are hot! :-)

Regarding the colorspace in the screens I’m sorry for the confusion in our external communication! From what I’ve read Android 1.6 (which is the release SW for all the X10s) limits the number of colors to 65k. Sumit wrote the following in the post where he announced the selected people for the research program.

“Ps. I see that colors are still discussed due to unclear information from our side. The Xperia X10, X10 mini, X10 mini pro all support 16M colors, hardware wise. Software wise there are limitations from the OS and what the future upgrades will imply on leveraging screen capability is not visible to me at this point. We will let you know as soon I have something to share.”

Regarding the discussions on release Android version most of you have valid points in both directions and I just want to confirm that of course I, and many of my colleagues, read all your input here and in other forums and it will surely be important input on how to focus going forward. We do listen. As Sumit wrote in the xperia X10 will be upgradeable-post these kind of products will get recurring updates over time and newer versions of Android are of course an important part of that. And in addition the UX platform will also over time evolve further in other aspects than just OS version.

so kemunkinan Time/media scapenya bisa berkembang juga., termasuk untuk si mini dan mini pro kedepanna.

There is no removable battery! The battery is fixed in place like the iPhone. Presumably this is a result of the handset’s size.

Selama ini gue hampir ga pernah sih ganti batere, kecuali untuk ponsel CDMA yang dijadiin modem. Tapi biar gimanapun, kalo sampe ga ada removable battery-nya sih ribet amat ya nanti kalo mau ganti ?

Sony Ericsson’s diminutive Xperia X10 mini and X10 mini pro Android smartphones have now popped up for pre-order at a few UK e-tailers. They shed a light on price point as well as availability.

The X10 mini will cost £299.99 from both [tautan dihapus] and Expansys. It looks like it will be appearing at the end of May/early June. [tautan dihapus] has it for 7th June, whilst Expansys has it releasing on 24th May 2010.

The X10 mini pro is on pre-order at £349.99 at [tautan dihapus], or you can save £10 if you pre-order from Expansys who has it for £339.99. Doa teman2 terkabul

Yesterday we brought you news on UK pre-orders opening for the mini versions of the Xperia X10 handset. However, it seems that just a day on, UK pre-orders are now even more attractive.

[tautan dihapus] were offering the X10 mini on pre-order for £299.99 just yesterday, but now that has dropped to £229.99. Likewise with the X10 mini pro, [tautan dihapus] had it for £349.99 yesterday, but today this is now £249.99.

This is likely due to the fact that retailers have received official word on pricing from Sony Ericsson. FrAnrdoid is reporting that the official mainland European pricing for the X10 mini will be €300 and the X10 mini pro will be €330. These already desirable mini Android smartphones just became that much more of a compelling purchase.
