Tetapi kabarnya itu hanya akan ada untuk produk dari Motorola, dan bukan SE.

Tadinya M600/G700 pengen gw jual buat modal SEX1, tapi kalo bener UIQ ga bakal dipake ama SE lagi, M600 ama G700 gw simpen untuk kenang kenangan aja deh..

UIQ is going nowhere, Sony Ericsson are done with it

Sony Ericsson doomed the Symbian UIQ platform by publicly stating at the Symbian Smartphone Show in London that "UIQ didn't attract the operator, manufacturer or consumer interest needed to stop it from failing".

The other shareholder, Motorola, didn't have anything to comment.

Sony Ericsson's Patrick Olson admitted the failure of the UIQ platform to gain a steady fan base among users and a steady business case among network carriers.

That statement obviously explains the reason why Sony Ericsson cancelled their two latest UIQ smartphones even before they are officially announced. SE are obviously going full steam ahead with the Symbian Foundation, which will stake at providing a unified UI on diverse platforms.

Motorola on the other hand have their own UIQ plans and word is they are going to release more UIQ phones before the new Symbian Foundation's own platform becomes available. Still, they don't have any strategy for the support of the already existing and future handsets (much like SE).

We've always known that UIQ phones don't really have a competitive edge to them, but now it's official. UIQ is already a dead fish. You are welcome to share your condolences in the comments.

Padahal UIQ jauh lebih bagus dari S60, gara2 hp SE UIQ ga banyak makanya kurang begitu dikenal. Padahal menurut gw pribadi... jauh.. jauh lebih baik daripada S60, linux, bahkan Windows Mobile sekalipun, UIQ menggabungkan kepintaran OS dengan ke-userfriendly-an dalam menggunakan fitur telepon.

Moga2 X1 fitur teleponnya ngga seribet produk WM lainnya.

UIQ is DEAD, so how about Hikaru's OS? WinMo, Linux? Nope.

Symbian 9.5 S60 --> Touchscreen? Yes!!!

Nokia Tube? Ya mirip2 lah, tapi GUI nya dimodifikasi biar punya ciri khas SE, katanya sih jadi mirip2 UIQ dikit...

High-end? Yesss!!! dengan beberapa improvement :

- bigger screen

- better resolution

- more mineral glass implementation

- new (or enhanced) camera interface

- new (or enhanced) media gallery

- Walkman 4

3 hal ini buat tebak-tebakan, masih tentang Hikaru :

- One feature has been copied from N96

- One feature that has been accused of missing from Walkman for a long time now

- Screen size has been changed in positive aspects

SE akan mengurangi portfolio produknya di tahun 2009.

In an article at Financial Times, Sony Ericsson's President, Hideki 'Dick' Komiyama, explains that Sony Ericsson will merge the current three Research & Development sections to just one, in order to not develope the same stuff. Dick Komiyama continues by confirming that Sony Ericsson will reduce its 2009 portfolio with about 20 percent compared to the 2008 portfolio.

One of the most interesting quotes is this: "Consumer confidence is less almost day by day". Must say I agree.

Sony Ericsson Hikaru to bring an 8 MP camera, 8GB of memory; Sony Ericsson Twiggy in the works too

Are you ready to forget the Xperia X1? Probably not, but listen up here: Sony Ericsson is getting ready to release a new touchscreen handset that will bring 8GB of internal memory and an 8 Megapixel camera.

This handset’s codename is Sony Ericsson Hikaru and, according to the SEMC Blog, it will be the next high-end slider of the Swedish-Japanese manufacturer.

For the moment, it’s not clear where Hikaru will fit into Sony Ericsson’s range of products. Will it be a Walkman, a Cyber-shot, or perhaps a G-series? Who knows?

Also, it’s not clear if it will have an alphanumeric or a QWERTY keyboard, but I guess any of these two would be nice to have, together with the phone’s supposedly large touchscreen display.

Since there’s no image with the real Sony Ericsson Hikaru, I’ve played around a bit and made a mockup of it, based on SE’s W960 model. Here it is:

The official Hikaru most probably doesn’t look like this. Let’s hope it will actually look better.

Apart from Hikaru, a Sony Ericsson Twiggy is also said to come next year. It will be the successor of W350, thus it’s a Walkman phone.

Sony Ericsson Twiggy will have a 240 x 320 pixels display, a 3 MP camera and two color versions. It should be on sale starting the second quarter of 2009. No image with it yet.
