It's official - Nokia unveiled their new flagship, the Nokia N8. With 12MP camera and 720p video recording, the latest handset from the Finnish company is on track to becoming the new imaging champ in the mobile phone world.
The camera on the Nokia N8 is equipped with Carl Zeiss optics and a xenon flash. Nokia says that the image sensor "rivals those found in compact digital cameras". The camera can also capture 720p HD video at 25 frames per second and offers built-in video editing tools.

The Nokia N8 also features two different TV-out interfaces - the standard 3.5mm audio jack and a mini-HDMI port (a first for the GSM world). The Nokia N8 also features Dolby Digital Plus Surround Sound over the HDMI link.
The Nokia N8 offers up to 3 hours and 20 minutes of video capture or 7 hours of video playback (6 over HDMI) thanks to the 1200mAh battery. The talk time is impressive too - 12 hours, and the battery will last for 50 hours of music playback.

There's plenty of memory to keep the videos on too - the Nokia N8 has 16GB of built-in memory and supports microSD cards up to 32GB. As for viewing things on the phones itself, the N8 comes with a 3.5" capacitive touchscreen with 16:9 aspect ratio with nHD resolution (360 x 640).
The Nokia N8 is connectivity champ - it is a true globetrotter with quad-band GSM/EDGE and five-band 3G. Yep, five bands - 850/900/1700/1900/2100. It has Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS with A-GPS (plus other positioning methods), microUSB with USB On-the-go and a built-in FM transmitter. Having mentioned GPS, the N8 will of course come with Ovi Maps for free voice-guided navigation.

The N8 is the first device that runs Symbian^3 and it also has support for the Qt cross-platform apps and UI framework that should allow development of apps that run on Symbian and MeeGo. It has multiple homescreens and is proficient in social networking. It also offers improved application and graphics performance.

The Nokia N8 is expected to become available in the third quarter with an estimated retail price of 370 euro (500 US dollars). It will be available in Dark Grey, Silver White, Green, Blue, Orange.

@Techie: lah, kalo pasnya emang mustinya harganya berapa, bro? alasannya apa kalau ternyata harus lebih murah dari itu? malah tadinya saya pikir harganya 5 juta, dan saya pikir harga rilis awal sudah pas sekali dengan harga segitu.. (ternyata saya terlalu baik kali, ya sama produsen handset )

Kalo 4,2 sih masih ok lah buat gw, asal hasil kameranya + xenonnya bener2 memuaskan aj, kalo nggak sih kyknya gw lebih tertarik sama Wave.

Btw harga ini aja kan benernya udah naek dari harga sebelomnya. Haduh, baru seneng2 udah Masuk agustus, ternyata kudu tunggu sebulan lagi

Hmm... untuk tahu apakah sebuah harga itu kemahalan atau terlalu murah (hehe), kita harus ngeliat juga harga produk saingan pada saat produk tersebut keluar di pasaran. Kadang-kadang, harga produk susah diprediksi juga sih. Sekarang kita bisa bilang, harga 4,2 juta itu murah... tapi kalo misalkan (misalnya aja lho) nanti harga produk saingan udah di level 3,5 juta gimana ? Hehehe...

Klo menurut hemat saya, Symbian seri brp pun, mau ^3, mau ^4, mau ^9 pun, utk skrg ini krg bargaining price& valuenya, apalagi klo semisal dibandrol sampe harga 5- 6 juta. Cmn org2 yg bener2 Nokia-freak doank IMHO yg mbelani nebus segituan, secara di level 2-3 juta kita sdh bisa dpt HP ber-OS Andro yg setingkat. Blm lagi klo mau naek ke level 3-4 juta (msh dibawah angka 5 juta), bisa dpt produk2 HTC yg jg ber-OS Andro.
Mau naek ke tingkat 6 juta? siap2 face-to-face dgn monster2 multimedia yg scr spec jelas jauh diatas N8 sekalipun.

4,2 jt untuk ukuran N8 sudah sangat murah IMO.

biasanya hape 12 MP dengan fitur lengkap begini kan harganya 5-6 jtan.

Nokia keduluan nih rilisnya sama Tiruan Nokia N8.
Overall mirip banget bentuk dan spec-nya kecuali kameranya cuma 5 MP dan OS-nya pake Android 2.1 Eclair!!!
Warnanya IJO pula nih, warna yang gw suka dari N8 asli.

This latest one's pretty special too, as it gives us a glimpse into one of the fevered dream of Engadget commenters: a Nokia flagship rocking Android (2.1, in this case). The iZiNN CJ-3 copies the N8's form factor, styling, and 3.5-inch screen, but throws in an upgrade of its own by going with a higher-res 800 x 480 capacitive panel. Yeah, we're shocked too. A 5 megapixel imager, a budget Rockchip CPU, and an HDMI port fill out the rest of the known specs, while a release in China is expected some time later this month. Anyone know why this thing isn't being built and sold by a legitimate manufacturer?

Berbeda dengan si buah sombong yang berangka 4, yang cuma jatuh dari ketinggian gak nyampe semeter casingnya langsung pecah berantakan, Nokia N8 ternyata jauh lebih tahan banting.

Berawal dari seseorang yang secara tidak sengaja menjatuhkan N8 dari ketinggian 3 meter, kita semua jadi tahu bahwa N8 ternyata masih selamat, hanya lecet-lecet sedikit.

Nokia N8 Dropped From Balcony Hits Concrete 3 Meters Below - Survives!!

Woke up this morning carrying out my usual routine of reading emails, and RSS feed, and then when I fired up twitter, said Good Morning to everyone, when my good friend Richard, @Sheridan01 replied and said Good Morning back, I asked how he was, and I got the following reply....

Now knowing Richard has an N8 in his possession my heart was in my mouth, so asked him which phone he had accidentally dropped 3 meters off his balcony, and my fears were confirmed, he had dropped the aluminium cased Nokia N8.!! Seeing that the new iPhone smashes its glass when dropped from knee height, I was starting to fear the worse.

Of course, the next question was obvious, I asked if there was any damage, to which Richard replied with an impressive answer..

Going by the above answer, I thought to myself, ok, it probably landed on a soft surface, maybe grass, but no, it actually landed on hard concrete stone paving. Check after the break for damage report, and photos..

So the N8 was dropped 3 meters from a Balcony, unintentionally of course, and it survived, but does it still work? Yes, its still fully working, and only bares a couple of scratches from the 3 meter fall onto the concrete paving stones below. Here are some photo proof.
