New streamlined development tool maximises revenue opportunities and allows developers to create the first Windows Mobile® 6.5 applications for the XPERIA™ X2

Lund, Sweden – September 2, 2009 – Sony Ericsson launches the Panel SDK in a drive to encourage developers to create content for the XPERIA™ X2. The eye-catching interface includes a new range of interactive Panels on the home screen offering business, fun and communication features. By providing unparalleled real estate and marketing visibility, the Panel interface makes the developer central to the user experience.

The Panel SDK includes a Panelizer which turns existing Flash, Java and Windows Mobile® applications into Panels for the XPERIA™ X2, and a native software development kit which allows developers to be the first to create panels for the Windows Mobile® 6.5 platform.

Using the Panelizer, developers are able to maximise the investments they have already made creating compelling applications. In just a couple of clicks and with no separate tool purchase, the Panelizer gives developers a low-cost way to turn their content into the unique Sony Ericsson Panel experience. Panels are then just one touch away from the consumer’s home screen, allowing developers to truly shape the user’s mobile entertainment experience.

Besides supporting Panels and native applications, the XPERIA™ X2 is also equipped with a Java Runtime that makes Java/Capuchin applications run as well integrated as native applications.

Applications accepted as panels will be made available on Sony Ericsson’s market place, PlayNow™ arena, giving developers access to an even wider range of consumers using other Sony Ericsson handsets. Developers from around the world also benefit from the 70% net revenue share offered by PlayNow™ arena, which is available in 18 countries.

How it works

Developers can submit their applications by following these simple steps:

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 gets WinMo 6.5.2 update, new features

The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 received the planned MR1 software update, which should bring Windows Mobile 6.5.2 to the experienced messenger. The update improves stability and performance and brings several new features.

The MR1 update for the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 brings a newer version of Internet Explorer Mobile 6 and improves the overall touch performance, UI rotation and camera performance. The soft keyboard has improved speed and touch responsiveness, and audio streaming was tweaked as well.

The stability of panels has been improved and the shortcuts menu, SlideView, has been bumped up to version 2.0, which offers a new design and features. The Dialer has been replaced with a better one and the update makes the contacts list of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 more finger friendly.

As for the new features that Sony Ericsson added, here's what the MR1 update has to offer - Fast GPS for faster GPS locks, auto-lock, video calling and FM radio. The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 had the radio and video camera hardware all along, but now the software can actually use them.

The update should already be available for most countries and the rest should get it by the end of the week.

^ entah lah bro.imho,winmo sekarang emg kayak hilang greget.vendor2 sedang berlomba-lomba bikin handset android.liat aja tuh HTC,yg biasanya jor-joran bikin winmo phone.sekarang adem ayem aja.imho lagi,mungkin keluar nya neh hape dah telat.harus nya sebelum android booming.

Orang lebih prefer HTC HD2 kayaknya daripada X2
Lagipula X2 dan hp2 WinMo 6.5 sekarang kan gak bisa diupgrade ke Winpho 7, jadi mending nunggu WinPho 7 aja langsung

Gw yakin kalo harganya 2 jutaan X2 bakalan laku kok..

setelah pakai hampir 3 bulan, kelemahan X2 yg sangat mengganggu ADALAH........Lag!!!!! sehabis update firmware perasaan lagnya tambah parah..
sehabis nelpon LAG! pindah aplikasi LAG! sms LAG! minggu lalu tiba2 micro sd gak kebacaa...abis fomat baru bisa kebaca...
moga2 aja bisa berkurang lagnya di firmware berikutnya....amin.....

hal yg sama terjadi pula pada x2 gw bro,gw beli tgl. 25/02/2010 setelah pakai kira2 2 bulanan, yang pasti kelemahan X2 yg sangat mengganggu sampai saat ini HANG dan hal itu terasa tambah parah sehabis update service. fitur lebih lengkap stelah update penderitaan makin terasa. pernah juga beberapa kali diupdate ulang karena pnasaran dengn sw update servicenya takut corrupt,hasilnya sangat tidak menggembirakan. anehnya kalau habis update untuk beberapa saat sangat nyaman dan aman,tapi lama klamaan hang dan atau lag,contoh kecil saja kalau dilock trs diunlock dengan mentap kiri/kanan (gambar kunci) pasti ga kebuka.tapi kadang2 berhasil kebuka dengan cara pencet tombol power screen off trus pencet lagi tombl pwr baru kebuka kuncinya.
kira2 apa selanjutnya yang harus gw lakukan dengan x2 gw,sebelum ke SESC.thanks banget kalo ada yg bisa bantu penderitaan gw.

wew...ternyata yg lain jg ngalamin ya...kalau saran saya si tunggu firmware baru aja...bulan ini ada yg mau di release kalau menurut gsmaren*...ditunggu aja...kalau firmware baru masih sama aja, langsung saya jual ini hp hahahaha...

anywho.... kemaren jajal totol2 x2 ini.... definitely not interesting presently. laggie. tapi mungkin karena yg dipejeng itu display unit yah, maksud gw, bisa jadi versi proto, belom versi release.

rasanya kalau mau "aman", nunggu sampe keluar update winmo 6.5.3, di mana bugs lama bakalan solved dan muncul bugs baru ( ), habis itu sekali lagi update firmware.. baru deh stabil kayaknya.

but IMO, karena proc-nya sama dengan X1, rasanya lag menjadi hal yang sulit dihindari. windows = big resource, versi baru windows biasanya membutuhkan resource yg lebih baru juga.

kayaknya masih asikan X1. personal opinion off course.

semoga ada perubahan dan perbaikan dari wm 6.5.3 (berharap cemas) n meresolved BUGS pada versi sebelumnya karena menjadikan x2 gw jadi tak berdaya . adakah solusi sementara saat ini sambil menunggu wm 6.5.3 dirilis? apa yang mesti gw lakukan untuk x2 gw selain menunggu?

kalau sudah ngerasa lagnya makin parah, di restart aja atau soft reset. memang gak terlalu berpengaruh, tapi setidaknya lebih fresh sedikit.

BUGS x2 sangat mengganggu sekali!! oi SE keluarin fw baru donkkkk.......

smoga saja org2 SE tw apa yg terjadi di lapangan,ya seh kalo hbs di soft reset bbrp saat nyaman tp lama klamaan ya gtu ngLAGS,cap cay deh. helllllllllllllllllllllllllp....btw kalo mo hard reset x2 pake apa ya? trus kalo keseringan hard reset resiko ga yah ke rom nya?
