We know what you're thinking -- it's Windows Mobile 6.1 fool, we've got the developers kit already. True, but not the SDK that allows developers to create custom, interactive panels for the touchscreen QWERTY's Panel Interface. Sony Ericsson claims that, "The Xperia X1 will offer the richest mobile user experience, putting the world at the fingertips of the user." In other words, the expectations have been set, developers, so you'd best get to to downloading the free SDK -- you've got your work cut out for you. Sony Ericsson will offer a panel download service in the future, showcasing all the panels built by you, Google, and other partners.

The Panel Applications are meant to be simple, rich, and fully-interactive allowing quick access to your data -- eMail, calendar, multimedia, games, IM... you name it. But don't take our word for it, SE explains the new panel ecosystem in the video posted after the break.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 to land next month

Sony Ericsson has overcome most of the problems it encountered attempting to run Windows Mobile 6.1 on its upcoming Xperia X1 handset and has set a firm release date for the phone.

Sony Ericsson's Xperia X1: coming to the UK next month

At a London press conference yesterday, an SE spokesman told Register Hardware that the phone will be launched in the UK, Germany and the US at the beginning of October.

It was reported last week that only German punters would take X1 delivery in October, with other markets forced to wait until early next year.

However, the SE spokesman admitted, as he ran us through a physical demonstration of the phone's features, that video playback is still "slightly jerky". This is because playback isn't yet up to the desired 30f/s, he said.

The phone's on track to launch according to a schedule posted last month by online retailer Expansys. The supplier stated in a promotional email that the phone's "release date is set for week 41 (Oct 6-12)". Expansys also said at the time that the "arc slider" will cost £590 ($1100), SIM-free.

Although an official UK Xperia X1 price hasn't been announced yet, the phone will be available in either a silver or black body.

Moga-moga aja X1 bener2 ga mengecewakan semua fans SE deh,habis gadget yang 1 ini bener2 meledak n udah jadi fenomena baru.Bandingkan aja dengan merk sebelah N*6,yang tetep adem ayem aja,padahal tanggal announcementnya ga berbeda terlalu jauh.

Duh, yang kutakutkan sekarang harganya nih. Gila saja kalau sekali keluar di Eropa lebih 1000 dollar
US.
Padahal menurut manager SE di Roxy, dia percaya, rata2 harga SE tidak mungkin diatas 8 juta.
Xperia mungkin dihargai sama kayak Omnia.

Xperia dulu sempat ada rumor sekitar 6,5 juta lebih, toh akhirnya lenyap juga tuh rumor.

Melihat panelnya yang sudah dimodifikasi dan diperbaiki ( terbukti di video yang kupost, hampir gak ada delay lagi, antar panelnya.), plus aku yakin panelnya kita bisa download dari official SE, dan juga mungkin kita bisa MENGKUSTOMISASI panel kesukaan kita sendiri.
Anjret nih gagdet mempunyai seribu wajah.

Oh yah pada kebayang gak, kalau panel fish itu, mungkin saja bisa dibuat kayak tamagochi.
