Motorola selalu mempersiapkan hardware-nya secara matang sebelum diluncurkan. Walaupun ada masalah di software, tidak akan masalah karena bisa di upgrade.

Contoh: Motorola ZN5 yang pada saat pertama kali muncul dipasaran terdapat kurang sempurna pada Camera UI yang beberapa orang bilang agak lambat namun setelah di upgrade software-nya dan ternyata tidak adalah lagi Camera UI yang agak lambat.

Camera UI agak lambat; bukanlah masalah besar. Tapi kalo sinyal handphone yang tergantung pada hardware-nya maka jangan harap bisa diperbaiki melalui software.

Kalo di lihat langsung di YouTube. Cukup dimengerti kenapa Camera UI agak lambat karena banyak fitur termasuk Panorama, Macro, Auto Focus dan lain-lain; selain itu yang perlu di ingat Motorola Droid X mempunyai 8 Mega Pixel Camera sedangkan iPhone 4 hanya 5 Mega Pixel Camera saja; sekali lagi ketinggalan jaman.

Apple Akhirnya Menyadari Masalah di iPhone 4

Kesalahan yang sangat fatal sehingga dari pihak Apple minta maaf sebanyak 3 kali dalam waktu 3 pekan. Selain itu Apple tidak pernah mau belajar memperbaiki dari kelemahannya. Hal ini juga terjadi pada iPhone pada tahun 2007 dan diteruskan dengan kesalahan yang sama sampai diluncurkan iPhone 4.

PhoneDog has discovered that Motorola DROID’s sliding mechanism (to help users access the QWERTY keyboard) has no spring-assistance and it takes some effort to slide open the keyboard. If that is not enough to disappoint you, PhoneDog even discovered that Motorola DROID’s slider is wobbly!

iPhone 4 bursts into flames, burns hand

One of our very close AT&T sources just sent us in these images. Yes, it’s a fried iPhone 4. Apparently a customer brought the phone into the store to try and get help with it, although it’s pretty evident that the phone is unrepairable. It’s the first time our guy has seen this happen (us too), but the brand new iPhone 4 caught on fire while being hooked up to a computer using the Apple USB cable that accompanied the device. The customer wanted to exchange the iPhone — obviously — for a new, non-charred unit however the AT&T store in question was out of stock. An Apple Store did confirm to our AT&T connection that this did appear to be a defective USB port and not some sort of user error. Our source went onto say that the phone bezel was extremely hot (obviously), and it slightly burned the customers hand. The USB port in the phone was slightly melted and the cord was badly melted (as is apparent in the pictures). Hopefully this is the only time we see our beloved iPhones meet a fiery death. We’ve got one more picture for you after the break.

First impressions and pics of the Motorola DROID X

The Motorola DROID X may be launching at Verizon stores across the the country tomorrow morning, but we thought you might be interested in some pictures of the phone and our first impressions. We can definitely say that the DROID X is one of the best Android options from Verizon and the fastest phone from Motorola to date.

Personally, I’m not a huge fan of phones with extra large screens. My main complaint about the EVO 4G was the size and I was a bit taken aback when I heard that the DROID X was even larger. However, the sharp angles on the DROID X actually make the phone feel smaller in the hand than the HTC EVO 4G.

The custom UI on the DROID X is actually quite impressive. Most Android fans have pretty harsh words for Motorola’s MotoBLUR, but we’re pretty sure that those who spend a few minutes with the DROID X will walk away with a smile on their face. The phone still has all the social integration features found on other Motorola phones, but the UI has been toned down a little, making it less intrusive. One of the coolest features is the ability to re-size the majority of Motorola’s widgets so that you can customize your home screen to the way to really want it.

Well, I might have recommended a Droid X for big-phone-lovin’ fandroids out there… but now that I’ve read about Motorola’s insane eFuse security system, I’m going to have to give this one a big fat DON’T BUY on principle. I won’t restate all my reasons for supporting the modding, hacking, jailbreaking, and so on of your legally-owned products here — if you’re interested in a user’s manifesto, read this — but suffice it to say that deliberately bricking a phone if the user fiddles with it does not fall under the “reasonable” category of precautions taken by manufacturers.

Really. If you want to make it difficult to hack, that’s fine. You think your software should be enough, that’s fine. But once I pay money for the item, it’s mine, and disabling my device because you don’t like what I’m doing with it falls under the category of sabotage.

Here’s what eFuse does. This information is a couple days old but it’s worth reading if you’re interested in Android, development, or open standards in general. Besides, I just found out about it, so you have to read my words whether you like it or not. or you could just stop reading. Either way. Anyway:

If the eFuse failes to verify this information then the eFuse receives a command to “blow the fuse” or “trip the fuse”. This results in the booting process becoming corrupted and resulting in a permanent bricking of the Phone. This FailSafe is activated anytime the bootloader is tampered with or any of the above three parts of the phone has been tampered with.

It requires a hardware fix, apparently, only available through Motorola, of course. This is the equivalent of a MacBook detonating some core component if you try to install an OS to dual boot.

Will many users run into this problem? Probably not, but Android is a platform that not only was founded on the idea of openness, but thrives because of it. The grey market of sideloaded apps and custom ROMs will only get more popular and more easily accessed as people realize that their phones are tiny computers waiting to be customized. That idea is anathema to Motorola and clearly they will continue to stoop to unreasonable means to “protect” their hardware — which you bought and paid for.

So here’s my official recommendation: don’t buy a Droid phone and don’t recommend them to your friends. There are too many good options out there that aren’t locked down by nefarious means. Look up a Galaxy phone or wait for the next awesome thing to come along. Vote with your wallet and tell Motorola “open or GTFO.”

Sama seperti komputer di kantor, udah disetting baik2 program2nya, dilarang nginstall program yang gak jelas ma IT-nya, eee tau2 komputernya rusak karena user menginstall sembarangan program dan jadi susah melacak penyebabnya karena di luar standard yang sudah ditetapkan.

Reality Check: Modding the DROID X may not lead to a bricked phone

A post by p3Droid on the My Droid World forums claims to shed some light on the rumored locked bootloader of the DROID X. According to the posting, the Droid X ships with an e-fuse chip that locks the bootloader and will brick the phone if the bootloader is modified. The news is spreading like wildfire with many would-be ROM flashers wondering if they should avoid the DROID X like a plague. This breaking news may not be as dire as many are claiming, as a google search of OMAP3 and e-fuse reveals that current OMPA handset already have e-fuse in place as part of the M-Shield hardware security technology built into TI’s OMAP system on a chip. It is on the very hackable DROID and the not-so-hacking-friendly Milestone, but it is not being used by Motorola to lock the bootloader of the handset. The current theory being put forth by the non-alarmists in the Android hacking community suggests that the DROID X is locked in a similar manner to the Milestone. Though it may be difficult to , and may lead to many hairs being pulled out, mucking with the bootloader probably won’t brick your phone. As the DROID X lands into the hands of the Android hacking community in the upcoming days, we should know a lot more about the state of rooting and flashing on Verizon’s flagship Android handset. Be calm. Stay tuned. It’s just a phone.

Customers line up early to buy the Droid X

Computerworld - The Droid X, which may be the toughest smartphone yet to effectively challenge the iPhone, went on sale at 12:01 a.m. today, starting with customers lined up outside a Columbia, Md., Verizon Wireless store.

The early buyers said the Droid X's large 4.3-inch screen was a big draw. They also like the touchscreen's responsiveness and the fast 1 GHz processor.

"It has a larger screen than the iPhone and the touchscreen is very responsive," said one early buyer, Danny Choy, who bought his Droid X at a store near Miami and was interviewed by phone. The iPhone screen is 3.5 inches.

Choy said he tried a cousin's iPhone and found its touchscreen keyboard hard to use. After only a few minutes with the Droid X, he found the Swipe typing application helpful for quick and accurate message writing.

An undergraduate student in biology at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Choy plans to use the Droid X mainly for access to medical applications and social networking. The iPhone was never on his buying list, he added, because his cousin has had reception problems over AT&T's network, while Choy has had no connection problems over Verizon's network on an older Samsung phone.

One buyer at the Columbia store, Tanya Schools, said having the ability to use the Droid X as a Wi-Fi hotspot to other devices was part of its allure. "With work and everything, I need Wi-Fi and I need the hotspot," she said in a video recorded by Verizon and posted on its site. "I need things to be fast. The EnV3 didn't hold up to that standard, but I've come in twice and played with the Droid X demo, and I'm blown away, absolutely blown away."

Verizon officials said they were excited about the early turnout. They said the Droid X had sold out in some stores, but customers could order units to have them delivered to their homes.

The Droid X, manufactured by Motorola, sells for $200 after rebate and a two-year agreement with Verizon. It runs Google's Android 2.1 operating system, but will be upgraded over the air to version 2.2, probably by late August. At that time, it will also be possible to download Adobe's Flash 10.1 media player to the device.

Verizon, Motorola and Google heavily promoted the Droid X in advance of sales, even airing an unusual 60-second teaser ad the night before on television stations nationwide. The ad features pressure-suit clad actors entering a vault in an open strip mine in a desert locale, and follows them as they walk through a corridor before they confront a floating crystal object. It concludes with a blackout to the words, "tomorrow" and "Droid X."

Another edgy Droid X TV ad began airing over past few days that features a close up of a human eye that turns into a robotic steel lens.

Verizon Wireless spokeswoman Brenda Raney said the latest ad was just one commercial in a campaign to promote the phone. She said future ads will "look different but stay with the same theme of how customers are transformed by the Droid X."

Analysts have predicted that the entire Android community, especially Google, will go to great lengths to sell the Droid X. "Droid X is their answer to the iPhone," said Jack Gold, an analyst at J. Gold Associates. "I would expect them to spend megabucks promoting the thing."

Gold said he'll be watching how the Droid X sells compared with the iPhone 4, which had 1.7 million sales in the first three days it was available. While that figure will be hard to beat with only one Android model, "I think the X will do very well," Gold said.

The DROID X proved to be extremely popular today, as the first production run is now sold out online. Folks looking to avoid the dreaded mail-in-rebate by buying online will now have to wait until July 23rd for their handset to ship. In-store sales have been equally strong with most stores selling through their launch day inventory. If you didn’t snag a DROID X yet don’t despair, additional shipments are expected to replenish the brick and mortar stores in the upcoming days.

Cast in that light, the Droid X becomes a much less magical phone than the Droid was. It's good, and it's a pretty enjoyable execution of Android 2.1, but it's not a must-have phone -- especially in light of the Droid Incredible and the upcoming Droid 2. From a hardware perspective, this phone is pretty much a bang-on execution of what a high-end mobile powerhouse should be, but Motorola clearly still has work to do in order to play in the same software league as HTC does with Sense.

Motorola sudah lama berpengalaman di dalam membuat handphone dengan berkualitas tinggi dan tidak pernah ada masalah sinyal pada handphone maupun smartphone Motorola maka dari itu Apple tidak berani membandingkan dengan Motorola. Banyak yang tertipu dengan penampilan Motorola Droid X sehingga banyak yang bilang terlihat "Huge". Namun kenyataannya tidak "HUGE" tapi cukup besar. Kenapa bisa begitu? Karena Motorola Droid X tipis bahkan lebih tipis dari Motorola Milestone XT720.

We've contacted Verizon for confirmation and hope to have a response soon; in the meanwhile, see video examples of both issues after the break, and let us know if you've seen similar glitches in comments below.

The iPhone 4's controversial antenna may experience drops in signal, but there's no dropping when it comes to Apple's financial results. They exceeded even Apple's own expectations leading them to break all sorts of records.

About 52% of the revenue is due to international sales. It seems the only things that have fallen down are the iPod sales, which took an 8% dip (not really unexpected), and the gross margin which fell to 39.1% (down from 40.9%).

All eyes are on the fourth quarter now - and Apple has some bright plans for it. They are predicting a revenue of 18 billion US dollars for Q4. Considering they over-fulfilled their expectations for this quarter, they'll probably reach that goal and maybe even go further.

We just got word back from Verizon regarding those flickering Droid X screens, and sure enough, the ghastly images are not a side effect of your assimilation into the Droid collective. Verizon and Motorola have owned up to a genuine problem with a small number of Droid X displays, approximately one-tenth of one percent. If your screen starts acting up you'd best contact the authorities immediately. And by authorities, we mean tech support, not the FBI -- the omnipresent glowing red eyeball is completely normal. It told us so. Here's Verizon's full statement on the matter:

What started as a concept has landed on Etsy as a buyable product: the 'End Call' vinyl sticker. As you'd expect, you simply place this guy over the iPhone 4's "weak spot" and then press it whenever you'd like to conveniently drop whatever call you're on. The only problem? This $4 add-on actually won't accomplish what it says in plain English.

Well, that didn’t take long.

As it happens more often than not, rooting procedures for the newest Android smartphones are made available very soon after launch.

And it’s no different here. The Motorola Droid X, Verizon’s flagship smartphone (at least until the Droid 2 gets released) has now been rooted.

Although this does enable you to remove some of the apps that Verizon has preinstalled, you can’t run custom ROMs on the Droid X, as expected.

Still, this is big news for root enthusiasts.

Instructions, for those in the know, follow:

Step 1: Set up ADB
Step 2: Push exploid to /sqlite_stmt_journals “adb push exploid /sqlite_stmt_journals”
Step 3: type “adb shell”
Step 4: type “cd sqlite_stmt_journals”
Step 5: type “chmod 755 exploid”
Step 6: type “./exploid” and follow directions on screen
Step 7: type “rootshell”
Step 8: type in password “secretlol”
Step 9: your in root!
Step 10: mount your sdcard to pc and put Superuser.apk and su in the sdcard
Step 11: unmount sdcard
Step 12: in adb (make sure your still in root with the # sign) type in:
- cp /sdcard/Superuser.apk /system/app/Superuser.apk
- cp /sdcard/su /system/bin/su
- chmod 4755 /system/bin/su

your done! feel free to kill the bloat apps snd such ;

NOTE: it might be a smart idea to do “rm /system/bin/rootshell” after you have su and superuser in place as ANY program will have access to your root if you leave it (cause everyone will know the password)

If you feel comfortable following the above to the letter, you should have your Droid X rooted in no time. Of course, the usual caveats apply. Don’t do this if you don’t know what you’re doing and be prepared to transform your smartphone into a brick if something goes wrong.

If you don’t understand the instructions, it may be safest not to employ a ‘trial and error’ tactic, but have a bit more patience until an easier to use rooting procedure is available.

In other news, Verizon began trumpeting the fact that Droid X owners use five times more data than on any other smartphone they sell, without actually mentioning any numbers. This is, without a doubt, meant to prepare Verizon customers for the upcoming tiered data plans.

So it looks like those are a near certainty at this point. Enjoy your “unlimited”, soft-capped at 5Gb data for as long as you still can!

Mau sejuta hp pun yang dites oleh Apple & dipajang di websitenya tidak akan merubah kesan orang kalo iPhone 4 itu produk cacat & sebaliknya tidak akan merubah kesan orang terhadap hp yang diuji itu menjadi jelek. Karena semua orang juga sebenarnya udah tau akan titik2 lemah sinyal pada handphone yang jadi masalah pada hp lain perlu upaya keras & tidak lazim dalam menggenggamnya untuk mengganggu sinyalnya sedangkan pada iPhone 4 cukup dengan sentuhan ringan dgn posisi genggaman yang wajar. Nak haseo ini mungkin anak2 yang kurang perhatian di dunia nyata jadi merembet ke dunia maya, saya kasian aja dalam menanggapinya.

Steve Jobs sudah mengeles tentang kelemahan iPhone 4 pada antena-nya dan membanding-bandingkan dengan handphone lain; itu lah sikap seorang anak kecil. Seorang dewasa akan mengambil semua tanggungjawab kalo terjadi kesalahan dan bukannya mengeles lalu mencari-cari kesalahan handphone lain. Steve Jobs semakin tua semakin kayak anak kecil. Hehe...

Hari Senin, Motorola Droid X punya saya baru di kirim dari agen ke saya. Jadi sekitar hari Rabu baru lah di tangan saya kemudian hari Kamis akan saya inject dengan Fren. Kemungkinan hari Jumat atau Senin depan lagi baru bisa digunakan.

iPhone 4: Motorola Droid X tidak bisa di oprek.

Droid X: Kenyataannya sudah bisa oprek / root seminggu setelah diluncurkan. Bisa lihat buktinya di link berikut ini.

iPhone 4: Motorola Droid X ada masalah di layar.

Droid X: Hanya sebagian kecil saja yang bermasalah koq dan kalo ada masalah maka silahkan di tukar saja dengan Motorola Droid X yang baru.

iPhone 4: Motorola Droid X ada masalah di antena kalo di genggam begini.

Droid X: Daripada iPhone 4 kena sentuh samping saja udah langsung drop sinyalnya. Selain itu Customer Report masih merekomendasikan untuk beli Motorola Droid X daripada iPhone 4 sudah tidak di rekomendasikan untuk di beli; selain itu terjadinya penurunan sinyal pada Motorola Droid X tidak terbukti, silahkan lihat bukti berikut ini. Nanti ada yang bilang jari-jarinya tidak sama persis seperti pada saat pihak Apple men-test Motorola Droid X. Yang test tuch Motorola Fanatic dan lain-lain sehingga tidak sah uji coba-nya. Haha...

Lalu kesalahan apa lagi yach yang dicari-cari oleh Apple Fanboy. Haha...

Padahal kalo dipikir2 pengujian Apple di lab-nya itu juga tidak fair karena tidak ada saksi netral yang bisa dipercaya apalagi dengan alat pelemah/pengacak sinyal hal itu gampang saja dilakukannya. Buktinya ketika dilakukan secara individu hal itu tidak terbukti. Apa perlu Apple dapat julukan juga sebagai pakar rekayasa?

Sangat tidak obyektif dan sangat tidak fair karena pengujiannya tidak di depan dewan Customer Report yang memutuskan apakah suatu handphone layak di beli atau tidak. Kalo pun ada pekerja Apple yang obyektif maka sudah pasti orang itu tidak akan berbicara sejujurnya karena akan dapat ancaman di PHK. menurut pemberitahuan resmi dari Motorola, DEXT dan Backflip akan mendapat update ke Eclair (2.1) sekitar Agustus 2010 atau telat2nya sampe akhir tahun ini.

Mudah2an aja jeroan Eclair-nya sama dengan yang ada di Droid X.

Ada resiko beli handphone Android dengan hardware chip di bawah Cortex A8 yaitu tidak bisa di upgrade ke OS Android 2.2 atau OS Android 3.0. Kalo pun bisa maka tidak bisa menjalankan program Adobe Flash. Hal tersebut dikatakan oleh pihak Adobe Flash.

Motorola Droid X berbeda dengan Motorola Droid 2. Masih belum diketahui secara pasti namanya untuk versi GSM. Namun ada rumour bahwa kemungkinan akan bernama "Motorola Milestone X" dan "Motorola Milestone 2" diluncurkan di Eropa, masih belum diketahui kapan akan ada di pasaran. Untuk harga saya tidak bisa menginformasikan. Apa lagi kalo jual di Indonesia. Harga Motorola Droid X berkisar USD 650 s/d 700 sedangkan Motorola Droid 2 masih belum keluar sampai pertengahan Agustus 2010.
