Nokia 5800 XpressMusic software update (v40.0.005)

Speaking of dated UI software, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic just got an update as well. The new firmware brings it up to speed with the Nokia 5530 XpressMusic and the Nokia 5230. We installed the update and poked around to see what's new as there's no official changelog yet.

The most noticeable change is the homescreen - the Contacts bar as we've seen it on the Nokia 5530 and the 5230 is now available on the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. This means instead of just four contacts you can put a lot more and they are side scrollable. There are also four applications shortcuts at the bottom.

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic also finally got the long awaited kinetic scrolling too - it works throughout the whole UI (except in the main menu). It goes really fast too - a single fast sweep now scrolls a lot more than it used to on, say, the Nokia 5530. Another simple but very welcome usability update is that tilting the phone sideways while typing text automatically switches to the landscape QWERTY - no more landscape 3x9 keypad nonsense.

Other changes concern the incoming call screen and the ringing alarm screen (when the phone is locked) – now they feature two sliders. For the incoming call they work as Accept and Reject and for the alarm – as Snooze and Stop.

The Nokia 5800 update is not available over-the-air just yet, so if you've got your hands itching to get it, you have to update your Nokia 5800 XpressMusic using a computer and the Nokia Software Updater application.

Perasaan lebih enak homescreen yg dulu (shortcuts bar), lebih simple.

Saya sudah upgrade ke 40.0.005, dan menurut saya menarik tampilan dan kinerjanya.
GPS saya yang biasanya nunggu berabad2 baru dapat sinyal, sekarang nggak sampe 15 detik sudah dapet sinyal.

Tapi ada pertanyaan nih, OviMaps 3.0 yang ada di 5800 saya kok nggak punya menu My Position ya? Bukannya harusnya di Options ada My Position? Terus kalo nggak ada menu ini, cara saya mengetahui posisi saya di mana gimana ya?

Setalah update via NSU, Sampai saat ini belum saya hardreset. Posisi hack HelloOx masih bisa jalan.

adakah perbedaan setelah upate FW 40 ini yg di hard reset dg yang tidak?

di fw 40 ini, feature kepraktisan musik benar2 diperhatikan nokia
1. adanya 3 tombol di display utama
2. jika berada di menu musik dan play musik, kemudian tekan tombol call reject (merah), musik nya tetap menyala. (kalau dulu kan musik nya jadi mati.)

tak ada salahnya nokia 5800 menjadi primadona baru hp touchscreen dgn fitur lengkap
bisa jadi incaran di harga max 3 juta utk hp multimedia
hanya saja yg patut diperhatikan adalah hardware nya yaitu kapasitas processor dan ram nya yg terbatas dan merupakan teknologi 2008 akhir
sehingga utk bbrp kondisi, hp nya suka hang / freeze

Kemarin akhirnya saya upgrade OviMapsnya, dan kemudian saya download ulang petanya.
Eh ternyata aplikasi OviMapsnya jadi beda banget dengan yang sebelumnya, dan jadi lebih bagus tampilannya. Susunan menu juga ganti. Menu My Position ada di menu paling luar. Sip dah..

semalem pake phoenix via PC WinXP SP3 (pake Laptop Vista ga bisa, walau uda pake Phoenix v2009.34 ),
sukses jd v40, lalu g hardreset, ga bisa install hellox v2.03, posisinya "unpacking file..." mulu.
jadi, sampe saat ini, v40 blom bisa di hack kalo uda di hardreset,
mendingan sperti bro inyong, sebelum up ke v40, hack dulu tube-nya pake hellox, lalu jangan di hardreset.

Maksud si HelloOX : "We received many users report that 5800 XpressMusic latest released firmware version 40.0.005 is UnHackable!"
yaitu seperti cara bro inyong di atas.

HS "contacts bar" juga bisa di bikin simple kan, UNCHECK "Contacts bar" di settings > personal > homescreen > homescreen
jadi tinggal shortcut yg muncul di bawah, atasnya kosong, jadi seperti HS theme "shortcuts bar", bedanya cuma di atas / di bawah, lebih enak neken dibawah, lebih deket dgn jempol (kalo pake 1 tangan).

Pasti ga lama lagi uda bisa hack v40 ini, "ojo kesusu" dulu dech..
