It seems Sony Ericsson Satio is geared for another major update, which should bring over WVGA (864 x 480 pixels) video recording update to the current VGA capabilities. There is some other new stuff as well including direct Facebook and YouTube uploads.

The list of changes continues with threaded messaging, DLNA support and various UI improvements. Unfortunately, there's no word on the Vivaz homescreen getting officially to Satio.

Here’s the list of highlights:

* Support for WVGA video recording – The already great video recording will be enhanced to fit the wide screen format and hence resolution is also slightly increased to 864 * 480 pixles. (the preset size will still be VGA, user has to change to get WVGA)

* Upload of pictures to Facebook – It will be possible to upload pictures directly from the picture menu you have on the home screen or from the Media UI.

* Youtube video uploading – It will be possible to upload videos to Youtube directly from the Media UI.

* Conversational messaging – “Conversations” will be nicely integrated in the messaging menu in order to easily find and inspire to more conversations with your friends.

* DLNA support – The new software will support DLNA media server for easy transfer of audio and still pictures. (Note that video is not supported)

* UI improvements – On top of above, several minor UI improvements have been done in order to optimize the user experience.

* The Facebook application that is now available on PlayNow for free download will be included in the sw.

So in a few days time I think that at least many of you will be able to try this new update out. Please let us know how it turns out in the comments section.

Wakaka, gw jg gak nyangka sih bro, kirain bakal diabandon sama SE karena sibuk ma X10 family & Vivaz family, ternyata masih diinget juga toh.

Duh, kalau begini, lari lagi deh ke satio.

Kalau benar2 bisa ke Full HD, parah deh satio. komplit dah

camera 12 Mpixel sama video HD.

(siap2 kumpul duit lagi nih, buat baby satu ini, rockkkk )

KAGAK BIASA2nya SE buat demikian. Mungkin SE sudah mau mulai mendengar keluhan konsumennya.

Tapi kalau memang worth it dan bro masih suka, yah ambil saja lagi, Toh alasannya videonya gitu.

Tapi saranku, ambil saja pas upgraden firmwarenya sudah ada dan tidak ada masalah, so nanti ambilnya gak nyesel untuk kedua kalinya.

Kykny dah ga minat lagi, kesengsem ama X10 mini nih .......SE emang gitu, C905 udah kluar beberapa bulan, baru dikluarin update buat penambahan fitur seperti smile shutter, dll......Bingung ama strategi SE jadi kesanny plin plan kluarin produk.....

Kekurangan orang kali, makanya milih2 mana yang mau dikembangin/diperbaikin dulu...

Kamera Satio jangan diharapin deh, jauh lebih bagus Shiho malah

Sony Ericsson Satio and Vivaz finally get a music equalizer

The Sony Ericsson Satio (and recently the yet to be released Vivaz) both lack a nice modern convenience - a music equalizer. A team of SE developers have come up with a fix today - and it's a rather strange fix.

The equalizer controls have been released as a separate downloadable application from PlayNow.

The new Equalizer for Satio and Vivaz is a separate app - it does not integrate into the music player (you can't access it from the Options menu in the music player), so each time you want to change the equalizer setting you need to switch to the app.

The Equalizer is simple enough, it just lets you pick from the following options Off, Classical, Jazz, Dance, Party, Pop, Rock, Spoken Word, Loudness, Mega Bass and Treble Boost. And that's all there is to it. Unfortunately, there's no option to create a custom equalizer setting.

The setting will persist after you exit the app, or even after you restart the phone and it's a system wide thing - it works for all installed players, etc.

Here's a video of the Equalizer in action. Apparently, the video was shot with a Vivaz:

You can download the Equalizer from PlayNow (it's free) - look for it in the applications section of the music category. It needs the latest firmware to work on the Sony Ericsson Satio, but it will work with the release firmware of the Sony Ericsson Vivaz.

Equalizer Application for Satio and Vivaz

Finally an update on the question of Equalizer for Satio and Vivaz. As some of you might know one important feedback from you the readers of this blog has been that you want an equalizer in Satio and Vivaz. Since I got this feedback and saw your engagement in the issue I’ve worked quite a lot with trying to make that happen. As it turned out it unfortunately hasn’t been possible to add it in an integrated way in a software update. However some real hero colleagues of mine decided to try to build it as a separate application instead so I’m now delighted to at least offer a kind of solution for those of you that have been missing an equalizer.

For most markets there is now an free application called “Equalizer” available on PlayNow in the music category under applications. This equalizer will give you the following different options: Off, Classical, Jazz, Dance, Party, Pop, Rock, Spoken Word, Loudness, Mega Bass and Treble Boost. As I understood it it will equalize all music played in the phone, also the setting it makes is global and stay there if the Equalizer application is closed and also even stays after rebooting the phone. There are two important notes though: First of all this application needs the latest update to work on Satio (on Vivaz it works on the launch SW of course) and also since it’s a separate application it needs to be started separately when you want to start using it i.e. it’s not included under options in e.g. the music player. When an equalizer setting has been chosen it should stay even if the application is closed or the phone rebooted.

I’m well aware that it would have been even better to have a fully integrated equalizer and I’m sorry that we don’t have that. Still I hope that this solution will work for those of you that really feel that an equalizer has been missed a lot.
