Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Rachael closer to officialdom

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 (a.k.a. Rachael) just made another public appearance, confirming the rumors that its official announcement is coming as soon as 3 November. An official sales brochure of what is Sony Ericsson make-or-break project appeared online, revealing another particularly cool part of the handset.

Update: Sony Ericsson have already setup a mysterious landing promo page for their "next big thing", coming on 3 November. The only link available on this landing page leads to Sony Ericsson homepage but not without including a referral for its origin, which quite directly mentions Rachael ([tautan dihapus] Well, the mysterious landing page is no longer such a mystery. Ain't that right, Mr. Watson?

Now back to that leaked XPERIA X10 sales brochure. The new fact that we managed to get out of it is that the Android-running handset will pack 32GB of internal memory, expandable even further with memory cards. That puts the XPERIA X10 on top of its class, matching the Nokia N97 record.

Just don't get overexcited about that 1080p logo on the brochure. Much like Sony advertise their digicams, we bet it doesn't have anything to do with video recording, but instead indicates that the camera can be set to capture FullHD 1920 x 1080 pixel images (which is mere 2 megapixels really, so not a big challenge for a 8 megapixel camera).

Kalau memang kepingin, beli saja. Aku sih jujur saja, sudah tertarik banget.

Karena kepuasan hati ( dalam hal ini gadget, kalau mendptkan idaman, itu merupakan sesuatu yang worth it, asal performanya juga memuaskan )

Memang aku suka yang white kok. Habis white bagiku, kayak sesuatu yang berharga.

Boss, jikalau dikau kalau sudah pernah lihat android, panel mah serasa " Apaan tuh panel ?

Di android, di HTC hero gitu, bisa dimasukin 7 wajah, Dan setiap wajah bisa diisi dan dijadikan kayak widget samsung gitu.

Dan ini berlaku untuk semua aplikasi, bahkan setiap aplikasi, bisa dimasukin di wajahnya ( AKA, user Interface ).

Nah itu wajahnya android, Nah SE sejauh ini yang kudptkan, dari youtube dan gsm arena dan berbagai sumber yang lain, Rachael juga dilengkapin dengan :

Rachael UI ( yang ini belum terlihat )

(banyak yg bilang useless, dan memang agak useless klo cuma gitu2 aja) karena itu, Rachael harusnya menjadi gebrakan baru dalam XPERIA Series, ya... tapi apa mau dikata juga deh, kalo maunya SE begitu.. mustinya tiap seri memiliki keistimewaan masing2, bukan cuma beda hardware lebih hebat aja.
Contoh: Walkman series terkenal atas Shake Control & Walkman Player serta kualitas suara yg jempolan.
Cyber-shot series terkenal atas interface Cyber-shot nya dan kualitas foto diatas rata2.. (tp tetep masi divisi yg buruk karena gak pernah menang di kualitas kamera, padahal camera centric phone)
XPERIA series, harusnya mempunyai trademark sendiri macam X-Panel (atau mungkin nanti akan ada fitur khusus XPERIA mulai dari Rachael), selain menjadi handset premium, flagship Sony Ericsson.

He eh itu dari androidnya sendiri.
Sama halnya di G1 atau di Magic. Kalau G1 itu hanya punya 3 wajah, dan Magic punya 5 wajah.
Sense UInya Hero kalau kubilang sih itu penyempurnaan dari android itu sendiri sih.

X-panel memang bagus sih bagus, cuman seperti pada x1 banyak masalah, kurang tahu juga kalau di x2?
Apa sudah ada perbaikan
Kalau SE meninggalkan WM, kayaknya tidak mungkin bos, soalnya SE kalau tidak salah sudah ngadain kontrak kerja dengan perusahaan Taiwan yaitu Mobinova pengganti HTC, Mobinova kalau gak salah sih ini bergerak di WM. ( kalau gak salah yah ).

Nah makanya, Rachael mah nanti ada buat Rachael sendiri.
Sebenarnya sih jujur saja. Native android itu sendiri saja sdh bagus kok.

Yang terpenting : Simple dan praktis.

Google's gone ahead and uncorked the bubbly to celebrate the launch of Android 2.0 "Eclair" today ahead of Verizon's big reveal tomorrow, bundling its announcements into two very important sections: SDK support, meaning devs can go ahead and start targeting the new bits, and a comprehensive list of changes in the latest version. Here are the major changes us lay folk are going to care about:

* Support for multiple Google and Exchange accounts

* Third-party "sync adapters" allow apps to tie in to the phone's sync services

* Quick contact menus for fast access to specific key pieces of contact information

* Unified email inbox (yes!)

* SMS and MMS search

* Text message auto-delete after a user-defined thread size is reached

* Significantly improved camera controls with white balance, macro, effects, and more

* Improved keyboard layout, dictionary, and algorithm based on multi-touch support

* Double-tap zoom in browser, support for HTML5

* Bluetooth 2.1 support with addition of OPP and PBAP profiles

* "Better" graphics hardware acceleration

Needless to say, we're extremely excited about the changes Google's made here -- and on top of the Droid, we can only hope this action is coming to legacy devices on the double. We'll find out soon enough (hopefully). Check a video of 2.0 in action after the break!

Smartphone OS showdown: Android vs. iPhone OS, Windows Mobile vs. BlackBerry OS and more

Buying a smartphone is daunting enough even before you consider what operating system it will run. From touch screens to QWERTY keyboards, candy-bars to sliders, e-mail to multimedia, choosing a smartphone has never been more confusing because of the vast range of handsets on the market.

Smartphones offer numerous benefits, such as the ability to synchronise your personal data with a PC or Mac, unified access to your contacts, calendars and appointment information, and the ability upgrade and improve your phone's software. Most smartphones currently on the market run one of the following operating systems, and the OS of the phone you choose will make a big impact your experience.

iPhone OS

Available on: Apple iPhone 3GS, Apple iPhone 3G, Apple iPod touch

Current version: 3.1.2

The iPhone OS is Apple's operating system for its iPhone and iPod Touch devices. Best known for its ease of use thanks to the excellent capacitive touch screen used in Apple's handsets, the iPhone OS also has the largest mobile application store, the App Store. Already there are more than 85,000 apps available, and the App Store continues to grow. According to Apple more than 2 billion apps have been downloaded. The iPhone OS is widely considered to have the best mobile Web browser, Safari, and the best MP3 playback thanks to its iPod feature. Google Android

Initially developed by Google, the open-source Android operating system is now controlled by the Open Handset Alliance (OHA), which brings together mobile phone manufacturers, software developers and telcos. Like the iPhone OS, Android is purely designed for touch-screen phones. However because it's open source it can run on a variety of devices, including candy-bar and slider smartphones. The Android OS is best known for being easy to customise and having tight integration with Google services such as Gmail. HTC was the first mobile phone manufacturer to release an Android handset in Australia with the Dream (followed by the Magic and the upcoming Hero) but the OS is still in its relative infancy. Motorola, LG and Sony Ericsson have already announced they will be launching smartphones with the Android OS in the near future, and Samsung has already launched the Galaxy Icon smartphone in Australia.

Strengths: User-friendly, open source, ability to tweak and customise, multitasking

The BlackBerry is famous for its trackball and QWERTY keyboard design, and many users swear by its physical keyboard for fast text entry. A touch screen BlackBerry — the Storm — was launched last year to compete with the iPhone, but received poor reviews. Strengths: Fantastic e-mail, trackball or trackpad is easy to navigate, multitasking, complete wireless synchronisation

Weaknesses: App store still hasn't launched in Australia, touch-screen model was less than impressive, Web browsing needs improvement

Get it if: You are a heavy e-mailer, you want to synchronise your work and personal calendars, contacts and appointments and you prefer physical keyboards over touch screens

Symbian Series 60

Available on: A wide range of Nokia smartphones and some handsets from Samsung and Sony Ericsson

Symbian is the most popular smartphone OS in the world and S60 is the user interface on most Symbian-powered smartphones, including the Nokia N97, Sony Ericsson Satio and the Samsung HD Icon. Now owned by Nokia, Symbian was originally a closed OS but it is now in the process of being open sourced. Smartphones running the Symbian OS are capable of multitasking and are compatible with Flash. Since the emergence of the iPhone and Google's Android many have criticised Symbian due to its steep learning curve and dated user interface. Symbian has a large developer community and a wide range of apps are available, but it doesn't have a central application store.

Strengths: Large developer community, compatible with Flash, multitasking

Weaknesses: UI not as polished as alternatives, often requires a steep learning curve to use, no central app store, the interface on touch-screen Symbian phones isn't as intuitive as competitors

Get it if: You like the interface of Nokia phones and you want the ability to customise and tweak your device

Avoid it if: You want a simple and hassle-free user experience, or you want a user-friendly touch-screen smartphone

Windows Mobile

Available on: A wide range of HTC, Samsung. Sony Ericsson, LG and Motorola smartphones

Current version: 6.5

Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system was originally designed to provide a PC-like experience on your smartphone. The advantages of a Windows phone include mobile versions of Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) and tight integration with the Outlook e-mail client. A wide range of other applications are available, including many business-focussed apps. However, Windows Mobile handsets have been plagued with outdated and unintuitive user interfaces and have often been criticised for being slow. The latest version, Windows Mobile 6.5, provides an intuitive home screen and a newly designed Start menu, but still lags behind most of the alternatives when it comes to usability. Manufacturers like Samsung, with the Omnia Icon and HTC, with the Touch Diamond2, have resorted to creating their own UI skins that sit on top of the Windows Mobile interface in order to provide a more intuitive user experience.

Strengths: Integration with Microsoft Outlook and Exchange, wide range of apps available

Weaknesses: Not as responsive, intuitive or user-friendly as the alternatives

Get it if: If you would like a Windows-style interface on your mobile phone and if you want seamless integration with Outlook

Avoid it if: You want a hassle-free user experience, you want an intuitive menu system and you prefer to not use a stylus

Windows Mobile vs Android – who will win?

Let me start with the basics - Look and feel/usability

Windows Mobile is not very well adapted for touch use, especially if it involves the bog standard OS as delivered by Microsoft.

Companies like HTC and Samsung have invested millions in developing their own shells for Windows Mobile that help make things a little better. However, at the end of the day however, it’s still not enough.

Even with the most recent touch interfaces (HTC TouchFlo 3D), as soon as you leave the warm and cozy touch enabled shell, you are back in the non-touch enabled WinMo apps. There are also some silly interface flaws; in the newest phones from HTC, you’ll find a touch sensitive scroll wheel, but you won’t be able to use the wheel in most apps (without some manual hacking). For most applications in Windows Mobile, you will still need to use a stylus to control things.

Android on the other hand has touch/gesture based controls built into every app; from the music player to the email client, everything responds very well, and is even on par with the de-facto touch standard on phones; the iPhone. The Android interface is not perfect; every now and then you still run into some inconsistencies in the controls, but for a first generation phone, it’s close to perfect.

Simple actions in WinMo, like scrolling through your programs list can be a real hassle, with a lot of apps loaded, the list scrolls poorly, and the program list still insists on displaying your apps in a 3×4 matrix, with no way to sort them.

On Android, apps are listed 4×5, despite having a slightly lower resolution screen. Apps can not be sorted, but scrolling is very smooth. One cool feature in Android is the ability to display only certain apps by filtering the app name using the keyboard. Also, Android allows you to add any application directly to one of the three home screens.

The home screen on Windows Mobile is far more powerful than on Android. WinMo allows you to add all kinds of content to the Today screen, Android currently only offers a clock, app or web shortcuts, a Google search and a clock.

Applications

With a mobile OS as mature as Windows Mobile, you’d expect powerful and well developed applications. Sadly that is not the case. Almost every part of the default Windows Mobile application arsenal is horrible. Internet Explorer is so bad, that many smartphone makers install a better browser, and disable all shortcuts to Pocket Internet Explorer. Other apps in Windows Mobile have not been updated since early 2001.

Syncing

There is no clear winner here; Windows Mobile would appear to have the edge thanks to its Exchange compatibility and desktop Activesync support, but neither of those are very useful for your everyday consumer user.

The Android support for Google services has proven to be very reliable, and easy to use. My contacts, email and calendar all sync flawlessly with my Google services, without the need for any installed software on my desktop, or third party (paid) services. If you really need desktop syncing for Android, you’ll be able to find several paid and free applications for 2-way syncing with Outlook or Thunderbird.

At the end of the day, any serious business user will be better off with WinMo, or a Blackberry.

Applications

Getting applications on a Windows Mobile device is a major hassle. Some vendors offer “over the air” installations using .CAB files, while others force you to install the application using your desktop computer.

Since Android lacks any kind of desktop application, you can only install programs over the air.

The Android marketplace is amazingly easy; apps are sorted by category, and users can submit their own rating and comments about the app.

The hardware

This is another tricky one; Android is currently only available on one device (The T-Mobile G1), and Windows Mobile is available on over 100 devices. But when I compare the $179 T-Mobile G1 with the new $299 Sprint Touch Pro, I really do think that the G1 provides a better device. Everything just responds nicer, buttons are in the right place and voice quality is better. The G1 also has a much nicer screen.

There is however one major issue with the G1; its battery life is horrible. Unless T-Mobile and HTC manage to fix this soon, people are going to replace the iPhone in the worst battery life contest.

What is Android lacking?

As with any new OS, certain parts are going to be missing; On Android, there is a shortage of multimedia players (there is currently just one video player), there are no VOIP apps and there is no virtual keyboard. With just 150 applications, Android has a long way to go if it plans to catch up with Windows.

Android turns 2.0, gets a birthday Eclair and many new features

Android v2.0 otherwise known as Eclair is official and there's a long list of improvements it brings. The camera interface got revamped and it's now well equipped to handle high-end cameras. The browser got a major update as well, as did Bluetooth and many other aspects of the OS.

The improvements in the camera department sound great - there are detailed flash settings, macro shooting mode, scene modes, white balance, color effects and digital zoom. Without these things a high resolution camera barely made sense with Android's limited camera options, but now it's ready for the big league.

The Android browser was already among the best mobile browsers we've seen and with Android 2.0 they've made it even better. For one, leaks of the updated version seemed promising.

The browser got partial HTML5 support, including the interesting video tag support. YouTube already has a demo up and running, which uses HTML5 instead of Flash to show videos. Even though it's just a demo, the interface is a replica of the Flash version, both visually and functionally. It works only in desktop Chrome and Safari so far because it uses the MP4 codec. Many mobile devices have hardware acceleration for that codec, so this could be the replacement of the mobile version of YouTube, which offers only low-quality videos.

There are other general improvements as well. As of v1.6 Android will support various screen resolutions, so it's no longer stuck with HVGA displays. The virtual keyboard has been rearranged to increase accuracy and to further improve typing speed, the multi-touch support lends a hand (it doesn't say if this multitouch support will bring things like pinch zoom or not). The dictionary also learns from you and offers contacts names as suggestions.

Another thing that was missing in Android's arsenal was proper Bluetooth support, but v2.0 brings support for sending files as well as the Phone Book Access Profile, which allows car kits to download the phonebook and also display the name of the caller. We even saw a demo, which shows the makings of a Bluetooth multiplayer game too.

Messaging was also improved with a combined inbox, search through SMS and MMS messages and easy synchronization with multiple accounts (including Exchange accounts).

Android v2.0 is shaping up to be a great update, now if only someone would give a definitive answer which devices would be upgradeable to 2.0. HTC are already hard at work on an Android v2.0 device and we can't wait to see what will they come up with.

Sony Ericsson mengklaim, kamera ini akan menjadi salah satu kelebihan handset Android yang belum pernah ada sebelumnya. Sedangkan kompetitor lain yang juga membenamkan Android dalam handset mereka yaitu HTC Hero dan Samsung Galaxy hanya dilengkapi kamera berukuran 5 megapixel.

Soal kinerja ponsel, Sony Ericsson mempercayakan prosesor Qualcomm 1GHz Snapdragon sebagai platformnya. Xperia X10 dibekali kapasitas memori internal 32GB dan slot kartu memori microSDHC yang membuatnya ideal untuk dijadikan media player portabel.

Sony Ericsson has launched a website that tells us the company is going to announce something on 3 November. Aside from all the standard ad hype and catch words aimed at making us eagerly looking forward to the date, the page contains a link leading to the home page of the manufacturer´s website that in turn, mentions the cherished word "Rachael". Perhaps Sony Ericsson will finally announce their first Android-based handset that we´ve come to call the "many-named", so far we´ve heard several it will roll out as the Rachael, XPERIA X3, XPERIA X10 and now Infinity. The above mentioned website is to blamed for the latest nickname, because that´s the word in the picture with the manufacturer´s logo in it. Iya, maaf sebelumnya,

Soal harga kemungkinan akan dikategorikan setara dengan xperia lainnya. Tapi mengingat brosur yang bocor, ada kemungkinan rachael bisa dibandrol diatas 10 juta. Perkiraanku sih 10-12 juta.
Tapi yah lihat saja entar gimana jadinya pas perilisan harga.

Kalau soal jual balik, yang namanya PDA phone, pasti harganya jatuh bos, tak terkecuali Android.

Perusahaan sekelas HTC pun kalau dijual kembali, harga tetap jatuh.

Hmm. bukan mau ribut sih. Aku mah gak akan keluarin asap kalau gak ada api

Boss, aku tidak pernah membandingin fitur, tetapi OSnya saja. Google sudah mencapai versi 1.6, bakan sebentar lagi juga ke 2.
So yang aku post bukan untuk membandingin dan memperkenalkan OSnya yaitu android kepada teman2 disini yang masih kurang paham sama android,

Toh seiring dengan waktu entar, sekalian kita bahas SE Rachaelnya juga.

SE dalam hal ini bukan sunat fitur gimana, mungkin dalam hal ini wajah UInya terutama buat si Rachael.
Tapi kalau OSnya sudah dijamin sama.

Kalau X10 kalau gak salah aku pernah bc, itu SE sendiri yang bilang demikian, karena mungkin bentrok dengan Nokiyem X3 dan X6.
Dan ini akhirnya ditambah dengan kata infinty.

Kalaupun memang nanti berubah nama, yah tinggal kebijaksanaan Mod saja, mau diganti judul threadnya, atau mau diclosed.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 will be available in Japan too!!! The screen is 4.1 inch WVGA, not 4 inch! The phone will be available at Ntt Docomo, Japan will have a GREAT smartphone!!! .

I want to explain something, on the left side it is mentioned(with yellow at the most phones) the screen, eg 3.3 TFT means the screen of the phone, or 3.7 ASV means the screen sise too! The phones name it is mentioned on the left, left side, eg F01B=Fujitsu F01B. So F is for Fujitsu, N is for Nec, P is for Panasonic, Sh is for Sharp! About the screens, there is a 4.1 number at the So-01B, that is the X10's SCREEN! At the bottom(at the chart it is mentioned XPERIA X10. I hope you will find it. It is a little bit hard, but I like the Japanese phones, and I learned those inidcations.

Android Vs Maemo

Technically, both Maemo and Android run on Linux kernels. However, Maemo is a full Linux distro, based on Debian, while Android is a sole kernel with a few programs on top of it (namely, Dalvik virtual machine and Sqlite database). On Adnroid all applications run within Dalvik virtual machine, which is heavily optimized and modified version of Java virtual machine (JVM). I tried to analyze the benefits of each platform from the perspective of a software developer, as well as platforms' current "strategic position". If you are too busy to read all the details, there is a short summary paragraph at the end of each chapter.

Android vs Maemo from developer's perspective

Development.

Maemo SDK is Linux-only. It's not a problem for me (as Linux is my OS of choice), but it may be a problem for many developers. SDK works best on Debian or Debian-based distros (e.g. Ubuntu). Maemo is also a Debian-based distro, so SDK simply uses Scratchbox cross-compilation toolkit to build for both x86 and ARM architectures.
Maemo applications are developed in GTK+ using Hildon application framework. Naturally, the primary language of Maemo application development is C. Other languages can also be used, as GTK+ has bindings for many programming languages, including C++, Java, C#, Ruby etc. However, most applications will be developed in C, mainly due to performance constraints, which are especially actual for mobile devices. GTK+ itself is a bit archaic by today's standards, and although Hildon is specifically targeted for touch-screen interfaces, most of work is still done in GTK+ and good old C. Thus, the development platform is not on par with modern mobile application development environments such as iPhone SDK, Android SDK, or Palm WebOS Mojo SDK. This may change with Maemo 6 release (codenamed "Harmattan") when Qt libraries will be supported and Qt will become Maemo official application development framework. But this will happen somewhere in 2011, so for now Maemo application development is a step behind that of Android.
Update: As multiple commenters pointed out, Qt should be already used for Maemo application development. It's a modern way to develop cross-platform apps that will run on both Maemo and Symbian OS (as well as Windows/Mac OS X/Linux, although it may not be practical to use similar UI for both desktop and mobile software). The earlier Qt becomes official application development framework for Maemo and Symbian OS, the better.

Android SDK is available for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X. Applications are developed in Java and the development platform is really easy to get into. It features XML (DSL) for GUI interface building, easy strings internationalization, app storage within SQLite database, background processes management etc. To make a long story short, it's how modern mobile application development platform should look like. The only downside is that all applications are in Java, and for some developers Java became the synonym of slowness (although it's not that slow on Android, as Dalvik VM is specifically optimized for running on it). For such developers, there is an option of using Native Android SDK, although its capabilities are very limited, especially in hardware access department.

Porting existing applications.

In this area, Maemo has a huge advantage over Android, as it's a full Debian based distro. With the help of Scratchbox Cross Compilation Toolkit many open-source tools can be compiled for ARM architecture. Technically, both Maemo and Android run on Linux kernels. Android vs Maemo from developer's perspective

Development.

Maemo SDK is Linux-only. It's not a problem for me (as Linux is my OS of choice), but it may be a problem for many developers. SDK works best on Debian or Debian-based distros (e.g. Ubuntu). Maemo is also a Debian-based distro, so SDK simply uses Scratchbox cross-compilation toolkit to build for both x86 and ARM architectures.
Maemo applications are developed in GTK+ using Hildon application framework. Naturally, the primary language of Maemo application development is C. Other languages can also be used, as GTK+ has bindings for many programming languages, including C++, Java, C#, Ruby etc. However, most applications will be developed in C, mainly due to performance constraints, which are especially actual for mobile devices. GTK+ itself is a bit archaic by today's standards, and although Hildon is specifically targeted for touch-screen interfaces, most of work is still done in GTK+ and good old C. Thus, the development platform is not on par with modern mobile application development environments such as iPhone SDK, Android SDK, or Palm WebOS Mojo SDK. This may change with Maemo 6 release (codenamed "Harmattan") when Qt libraries will be supported and Qt will become Maemo official application development framework. But this will happen somewhere in 2011, so for now Maemo application development is a step behind that of Android.
Update: As multiple commenters pointed out, Qt should be already used for Maemo application development. It's a modern way to develop cross-platform apps that will run on both Maemo and Symbian OS (as well as Windows/Mac OS X/Linux, although it may not be practical to use similar UI for both desktop and mobile software). The earlier Qt becomes official application development framework for Maemo and Symbian OS, the better.

Android SDK is available for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X. Applications are developed in Java and the development platform is really easy to get into. It features XML (DSL) for GUI interface building, easy strings internationalization, app storage within SQLite database, background processes management etc. To make a long story short, it's how modern mobile application development platform should look like. The only downside is that all applications are in Java, and for some developers Java became the synonym of slowness (although it's not that slow on Android, as Dalvik VM is specifically optimized for running on it). For such developers, there is an option of using Native Android SDK, although its capabilities are very limited, especially in hardware access department.

Porting existing applications.

In this area, Maemo has a huge advantage over Android, as it's a full Debian based distro. Kalau aku tanggep, malah android yang lebih bisa aplikasi yang dikembangkan. DIa bisa dimasukin semua aplikasi, baik Java, (Kalau versi 2 ), windows aplikasi juga bisa masuk ( dgr2 sih ), terus sama pihak aplikasi ke tiga lainnya.)

Well, agak sedikit mengecewakan sih.

Aku gak terlalu penting mediascope, atau timescope, karena UI begitu pasti ujung2nya banyak bug.

Aku lebih ingin langsung ke androidnya saja.

Dan yang ditayangkan masih berbau skinnya, belum androidnya itu sendiri

Tadinya sudah mau ambil keputusan ke hero.

Tetapi yah udah, kita lihat neng Rachael kedepannya gimana,

Entah kenapa SE gak pakai si kue kering, padahal motorola droid sudah memakai kue kering. Mungkin akan terbentur di UInya sendiri, atau sudah kejepit harus segera dirilis di pasaran.

Walaupun bisa di upgrade ke eclair, tentunya tidak segampang HTC punya.

Sejujur jujurnya, aku rada kecewa sih. Bukan dari soal spec atau hardware.

Tetapi OSnya.

Semenjak dikeluarkannya xperia series, itu dipastikan akan diikutin oleh skinnya.

Pengalaman dari X1, ini pasti bakalan banyak buggishnya.

Kalau pun bisa diupgrade, aku pun meragukannya, kalau bisa,hmm pasti deh banyak masalahnya,

Jujur lagi, aku lebih baik pilih Motorola droid kalau bisa dikasih pilihan, soalnya OSnya langsung to the point,.

Tetapi aku juga gak bilang infinity ini jelek serartus persen. Cuman penampilan untuk sementara, tidak ada yang menarik buatku

I am very happy about the announcement earlier this week. Using the phone outside the office walls has been somewhat of a relief and it is encouraging to get some remarks and raised eyebrows when people see me using it. The design is eye catching and stands out from normal large screen so getting great response and anticipation, but a lot of questions as well….

One of the benefits of using an open operating system is that we can tailor your phone to your specific needs. As an example, there is not a document editor preloaded, but there are and will be free and premium applications available in the application store.

Now to your questions. I haven’t been able to answer all of them at this point but have tried my best to get to as many as possible.

* Will it have multi-touch in future updates?

Xperia X10 has a capacitive screen. It does not support multi-touch functionality at launch, but is considered for the future.

* What’s a scratch-resistant screen?

Xperia X10 has mineral glass to prevent easy scratching and fingerprint coating.

* Is it based on OpenGL 1.1 or 2.0 for games and other stuff?

Xperia X10 supports Open GL 2.0.

* What is the size of the battery?

It is 1500mAh.

* How many colors does the screen support?

I noticed the confusion in the communction around this topic, but the correct number is 65,536. ( bukan 16.000, bukan 16 M maupun bukan 256 K )

* Will the X10 receive Android 2.0 update (for those who bought from the initial batches with Android 1.6 ) ?

The UX platform used for Xperia X10 will evolve to Android 2.0 ( SEMOGA SEMOGA ) over time.

* What would be the camera like?

We’ll try to post a tutorial video of the camera interface within short, but in short it’s quite similar to what’s seen in our earlier touch screen phones like Satio, X2, and Aino.

* When will this be available in the UK?

Sejujur jujurnya, aku rada kecewa sih. Bukan dari soal spec atau hardware.
Tetapi OSnya.
Semenjak dikeluarkannya xperia series, itu dipastikan akan diikutin oleh skinnya.
Pengalaman dari X1, ini pasti bakalan banyak buggishnya.
Kalau pun bisa diupgrade, aku pun meragukannya, kalau bisa,hmm pasti deh banyak masalahnya,

Untuk sementara ini aku lebih memperhatikan terlebih dahulu.

X10 pakai layar capasitive, layar ini tidak bisa diakses pakai stylus hanya bisa dengan jari tangan, alasannya mungkin kutipan dibawah ini bisa menjawab.

Kalkulasi ini menggunakan posisi dari ke empat titik sudur pada panel touchscreen sebagai referensinya. Ketika hasil perhitungannya didapat, maka koordinat dan posisi dari sentuhan tadi dapat di ketahui dengan baik. Akhirnya informasi dari posisi tersebut akan diintegrasikan dengan program lain untuk menjalankan sebuah aplikasi.

Capasitive touchscreen sangat berbeda dengan kedua jenis touchscreen sebelumnya. Touchscreen jenis ini baru dapat bekerja jika sentuhan-sentuhan yang ditujukan kepadanya berasal dari benda yang bersifat konduktif seperti misalnya jari-jari Anda. Tidak seperti Resistive atau Surface wave yang dapat disentuh dengan jari tangan ataupun stylus, touchscreen ini hanya dapat dioperasikan dengan jari saja. Tetapi dengan adanya sifat seperti ini, maka touchscreen ini tidak mudah terpengaruh oleh gangguan dari benda-benda lain di atasnya seperti misalnya debu atau air.

Tampilan layarnya pun sangat jernih daripada jenis Resistive touchscreen sehingga sangat cocok untuk digunakan dalam berbagai keperluan interaksi dalam publik umum seperti misalnya di restoran, kios elektronik, lokasi Point Of Sales, dan banyak lagi.

Xperia Learns From Xperience from : Android Guys

With the announcement of the Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X10, one can’t help but wonder why there aren’t more devices like it on the market today. True, it lacks the latest version of Android (2.0); they also seem to have left out multi-touch browsing. But, the fact of the matter is, those things are all fixable via software updates. Plus, I’m sure they’re already hard at work on implement Android 2.0 with their super slick, outta control, Rachael UI.

So, aside from the software issues, which can be corrected, why can’t other phones be like the Xperia X10? Why is it so hard for a company to put out a quality piece of hardware? I just don’t get it! I understand it costs more money, but we see that phone companies are already charging customers a fortune for high end phones.

Let’s use our brains for second (I know I’m asking a lot)… Who in tarnations wants to pay $349.99 (after mail-in rebate) for an HTC Touch Pro2 running WinMo 6.1? Yeah, it’s a nice looking phone, but that’s pretty much it. The processor is awful (528MHz ARM11), it’s as glitchy as an 8086 running Windows Vista, and it’s fatter than Chris Farley in the movie Tommy Boy. Why not sell a high-end Android phone instead, or at least along-side it? Do phone makers think there’s no market for it?

Sony Ericsson has had the X10 in the pipes for a while now. We’ve been hearing rumors about it and seeing pictures of its interface for months. The company saw the phones that other manufacturers had in the pipes and realized that by the time those hit the market something more powerful would already be needed. Sony Ericsson took the initiative to think ahead of the competition. Instead of being first to the finish, they decided to make the best possible device they could. They customized the interface, they gave it an insanely awesome 8.1 MP camera, and they made sure it would be released with the latest and greatest processor on the market.

The X10 is the phone that the Android community wants. Yet, no other company has released an Android phone that can rival it. I find this extremely sad considering the amount of time manufacturers have had to come up with their lines of Android based device

I beg phone makers to step up their game. No one wants to buy a phone that won’t be able to handle the next major version of Android. Android is all about the infinite customizability (wow, that’s an awesome word) and rapid development of an open, mobile, platform. Why is it that Sony Ericsson is the only company that seems to get this?

The X10 is the fastest, hottest, and most feature packed smartphone to date. Sony Ericsson was patient. Hopefully it’ll pay off. They say you learn from experience. Whoever “they” are, never said the experience had to be your own. The X10 is proof of that. Way to learn from the errors of your competition!

btw, kan si manager marketing X10 bilang "will" soal upgrade OS, so a word will sudah seharusya "definitely" kalau nggak, nantinya bakal ada keributan, dan akhirnya nama XPERIA benar2 terpuruk nantinya.
Kenapa X10 nggak bisa ngasi Eclair di pertama launchingnya?
karena SE tidak akan sempat merilis tepat waktu jika demikian. Dan seperti yang saya pernah dengar di internet, mengupdate sebuah Shell UI macam SENSE UI, HTC perlu kerja keras karena tiap versi Android itu harus menulis ulang code programnya (Shell UI, klo apps UI kyknya gak ada masalah). moga2 setelah versi 2 masalah harus merewrite code Shell UI agar bisa bekerja dengan UI native, sudah tidak ada.
bayangkan kerja keras SE membangun UX UI harus menulis ulang codenya. production costnya malah jadi mahal nantinya. jadi tinggal tunggu upgrade gratis dari SE soal ini. inget, mereka kerja keras untuk menulis ulang UInya utk Eclair, jadi hargailah update yg akan mereka berikan nantinya. dan semoga X10 menjadi high end device yg bertahan selama beberapa tahun dengan dukungan2 terus dari SE, nggak kyk X1 yg diabandon gitu aja setelah 1 tahun.

btw, prediksi saya, tahun depan keuangan SE akan melihat warna hijau dengan perubahan haluan yg mereka lakukan di akhir tahun ini.

Aku lebih memilih HTC HERO ( karena sudah terjamin )

Sh###T, entah aku merasa kayaknya yang 16 M seperti satio lebih terang walaupun resistive, ketimbang capasitive 65 K

Padahal Android tidak mengenal batasan warna 16 bit bitan kayak win mo.

kalo opini gw sih, warna yg paling natural ada di range 65K-262K
selebihnya (16M) warna tidak natural lagi, melainkan timbul warna2 tambahan yg membuatnya serasa warna kartun krn warna tsb merupakan warna differensiasi/turunan dari induk warna natural yg ada di range 65K-262K
Kyk layar warna samsung jet yg 16M emang colourfull banget dan sgt terang...tapi jauh dr kesan natural, akibatnya kyk warna kartun (eye candy)

16jt warna itu bukan bikin makin terang, tapi gradasi warnanya akan terlihat lebih halus dan lembut, gradasi disini maksudnya, perpindahan warna dalam 1 gambar, misalnya dari putih ke biru, kalo warna cuma 65k, terlihat jelas gradasinya. Contoh yg bagus, ada di X1, wallpaper aslinya itu kalo dilandscape bakal kelihatan jelas gradasi warnanya.

Tapi dulu baca di Esato, ada thread seru yg membahas warna, dan telah terbukti dan diakui, 16m warna ga bakal maksimal di layar hp/LCD, 16m warna baru akan maksimal kalo pakai CRT, jadi hp memang ngga perlu 16m, selain boros batere jg ngga muncul semua tuh 16m-nya, kalo 65k jg memang kurang bagus, gradasinya kelihatan banget, paling pas yah ga lain ga bukan 262k sj.

There are a few highly anticipated Android phones lingering on the interwebz and the officially confirmed Xperia X10 is among them. With a 4-inch screen, the X10 has the potential to rock some amazing clarity and visuals from everyday use in basic applications to HD video. Or does it?

Following the announcement, many Android enthusiasts clamored for answers regarding X10 product details. Luckily, Global Marketing Manager for the Xperia X10 – Sumit Malhotra -provided a brief Xperia X10 Q&A to address some of the most pressing questions about the phone. Among them was this exchange:

* How many colors does the screen support?

I noticed the confusion in the communction around this topic, but the correct number is 65,536.

Uhohs. The Motorola Droid screen, by contrast, is capable of displaying Up to 16M colors. XperiaFail? Not exactly…

The difference in the 16 million colors of the Droid and the 65,536 colors of the Xperia X10 is the version of Android being run. Android 1.6 isn’t capable/compatible with 16M devices and so the full functionality of the X10 hardware isn’t utilized. Yes… the X10 DOES support 16 million colors but because it will launch with Android 1.6 and not Android 2.0, you won’t be able to enjoy 16 million color functionality.

So the logical next question is, “Will the Xperia X10 get an Android 2.0 upgrade?” That is the exact next question from the Q&A with Sumit:

* Will the X10 receive Android 2.0 update (for those who bought from the initial batches with Android 1.6) ?

The UX platform used for Xperia X10 will evolve to Android 2.0 over time.

So for those wondering, Android 1.6 will limit the Xperia X10 to 65,536 colors when it initially launches, but at some point it will receive an Android 2.0 update that will allow it to display the full 16 million colors for which it is capable.

I know… I know… you’re wondering how long after launch it will get the Android 2.0 update. We don’t have that information for you. Actually, we don’t even know when its launching! But I can tell you that if you stay tuned to Phandroid we WILL have that information “at some point”.

Xperia X10 Launch Date: Feb 10th 2010 ???

The launch date for the eagerly anticipated Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 has been confirmed to be February 10th 2010 by the Official SE E-Store.

As you can see above the “Coming Soon” page lists the X10 with a February release and this is narrowed further to the 10th once you go through the pre-registration process. So who’s going to start a countdown page then?

hmm.. klo menurutku sih TimeScape ama MediaScape adalah bagian dari UX.

Sony Ericsson Nexus UX Platform WebSDK released for Android & Symbian Foundation development

We may be giving Sony Ericsson a darn good scolding on the one hand for their XPERIA X10 hijinks, but we’re a little more interested by their new WebSDK for Android and Symbian Foundation devices. The Sony Ericsson WebSDK promises a metaphorical hand-holding for developers hoping to have their wares nestle up against the company’s own apps, whether that be on the XPERIA X10 or the SE Satio. It’s called Nexus, seemingly the official title for the UX platform Sony Ericsson were talking about with regards the X10.

Nexus is a runtime that sits on top of the underlying OS, and while it’s not made explicitly clear in the press release, it sounds as though Sony Ericsson are offering WebSDK as a generic, cross-platform development environment. The company’s own Timescape and Mediascape apps, as loaded onto the X10, are said to be platform agnostic and as such would run on Android or Symbian Foundation devices. We’re checking with SE to find out if this is indeed the case.

General registration is free, and garners you access to the forums, white-papers and developer tools. However if Sony Ericsson like the cut of your jib then they might invite you to be a “premier partner”, the perks of which include access to early hardware, loaner devices, dedicated tech support and software flash equipment.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 February launch date yanked ???

Having tracked Sony Ericsson for years now, it comes as little surprise to see that, after plenty of happy noises about the apparently confirmed February 2010 release of the XPERIA X10, the company’s online store has now whipped away the date details. The “coming soon” page now merely says “to be announced” and reiterates the Q1 2010 window, which is all Sony Ericsson would tell us officially when the XPERIA X10 was announced a few weeks back.

We’re still putting our necks out and saying the XPERIA X10 will drop in February, around Mobile World Congress time in fact. Tutorial: How to Make Phone Calls on Xperia X10

A short and basic tutorial on how to make phone calls the “old fashioned way”, through the dialler, the call-log and the contacts application. I have saved calling through Timescape for another tutorial. Timescape really gives a new dimension to contact interactions and I’m getting used to it as we go along. I still make a lot of calls this way since in my view this is the use-case where you know who you want to call and why.

Timescape is for me more of a trigger for calls I wasn’t planning – i.e. When browsing through the social cloud around me in Timescape I see a friend posting something at Facebook making me want to give him a call or send him a message.

This should also give a glimpse of how Android works for those of you who are unfamiliar with it as an operating system.

I am certain there will be users that prefer both ways, so I think there is room for both tutorials :-)

Please note that as usual this is still early SW and HW so things might change until the final product is ready.

As always, I’d love to hear in the comments what further tutorials you want us to shoot.

Sony Ericsson could bring PS3 app to X10 phone and more

Could this be the first step towards a PSP handset?

Sony Ericsson is a little late to the Android parade, but to put pressure on its competitors, it has suggested that their X10 phone, out next year, could come with a PS3 app. A similar app is already available on their Aino “entertainment phone” but this piece of gaming software could give Sony the edge over other Android handsets.

The PS3 app would allow users access to their console from anywhere in the world via their handset, allowing them to stream videos and even play games. This would make it the closest thing we have seen so far to an actual PSP phone.

Christopher David, head of developer and partner engagement at Sony Ericsson, told Unthinkable: “It makes a lot of sense for it to be on other handsets. It should be expected".

While that’s not cold, hard proof that the X10 will have a PS3 app, it proves that, at least, Sony want to make it happen. If it does go ahead, this feature, combined with its four-inch touchscreen and 1GHz processor, will make it the ideal Android handset for any gamer.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 is far from official release but it's clear it's full of potential. It has among the currently fastest ticking hardware platform. The 4-inch screen is as big as you can fit on a mobile phone without hampering usability. So yes, the XPERIA X10 is one great package that will take on the competition with no hesitation.

Choosing Android is smart move by Sony Ericsson, since the OS is still new and developing, with free open-source code and a growing App Market. And most importantly, it's not plagued by the Windows Mobile or Symbian legacy.

The Timescape and Mediascape interfaces allow for a completely new user experience on the Android platform. HTC Sense UI will definitely get a run for its money..

Unfortunately, there are at least two and a half months to go before Sony Ericsson release the XPERIA X10 and they still have a lot of work to do and a lot of edges to polish. Chances are we'll be getting a real treat in February 2010.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 and HTC HD2 knock on T-Mobile door

Two Snapdragon-powered phones with large touchscreens are taking the first steps to the pockets of T-Mobile US consumers. Yep, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 passed through FCC testing and it and the HTC HD2 both are on their way to T-Mobile USA.

The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 has obviously passed through the scrutiny of the Federal commission, but the interesting part is the 3G test. The tested UMTS bands were I, IV and VIII, or in other words 900/1700/2100MHz. That definitely points in T-Mobile's direction.

WMExperts bring the second bit of good news for T-Mobile customers - they got the ROM image for the US HTC HD2 and it seems heavily bound for T-Mobile as well. They also share some of the versions of the apps that will be available inside - ROM version 2.01, Windows Mobile 6.5 build 21896, Opera Mobile 9.7, TeleNav GPS navigation 5.5.34 and Teeter 2.0 (hooray!).

The rumored release date for the HTC HD2 in the US is March 2010. The release date for the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 on the other hand is anyone's guess.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 passes FCC test again, for AT&T this time

The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 is making a second round through the FCC testing grounds. The first time it was tested, the frequencies listed in the report indicated that it was the T-Mobile version. The new report however is about the XPERIA X10a version.

The listed 3G frequencies are 850/1900MHz, so hello AT&T and the rest that share those bands - Bell, Rogers, Telus. It's no guarantee that any of these operators will get the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10a, but their chances just raised drastically. It's still not too late for a "Dear Santa" letter.

So, there are two versions of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 that have passed through the FCC now, the first one seemingly designed for T-Mobile. Yet there's still no info on when either of them will actually start selling.

To help pass the time, here are some shots of the X10 iFixit style (PDF link). You can also keep an eye on the SonyStyle USA website. They have the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 on sale and maybe they'll get the XPERIA X10 too, if your operator of choice doesn't. Just don't expect to get it in time for this Christmas.

cirikhas hape SE ber OS terbuka (symbian UIQ, symbian s60, winmo, and now android) dari dulu, setau saya.... tampilan yang custom... dan SE banged.... detilnya juga kuat.

yap, itu memang sempat juga sudah dibahas di esato, Memang layarna x10 rada keblueish. Mungkin ini karena jumkah colournya cuman 65 K. Kalau 252 K mungkin sudah lebih baik

Android itu kalau sepengtauanku bahasa pemogramingnya gampang ketimbang winmo series.

Jadi systemnya mudah untuk diubah2, dan bisa dikembangkan lagi.

di android terbaru 2.1, sudah dimasukan wallpaper animasi ( di HTC NExus One google )

Kalau winmo, sampai skrg di winmo 6,5 belum ada dari winmo original yang ada wallpaper animasi, kecuali kalau di kustomisasi ataupun program tambahan, ataupun mungkin next winmo 7 kali ya )

Hanya saja tetap Android itu lebih stabil sih ketimbang winmo.

The latter is the central place where already thousands of applications are available, most of them for free, a growing number paid.

The X10 makes it easy to keep the applications up to date: a daily check runs in the background, and the phone notifies you if any update(s) is available. Can it get any more convenient?

Cuman di x10, aku baru sadar, ini bukan full murni 1.6, tapi sama SE sudah diaduk2 bongkar sana sini, dengan custom NeXusnya, sehingga sudah tidak ada perbedaan antara versi 2 dengan 1.6.

Lalu gimana dengan dengan versi Eclairnya ala SE sendiri????

A quick overview of the SONY Ericsson XPERIA X10. The handset is running Android 1.6, but SONY did confirm that the X10 will be upgradeable to Android 2.1 in the future and could see additional upgrades beyond 2.1 as well.

Tucked in amidst the large Sony booth at CES was Sony Ericsson, which had its yet-to-be-released XPERIA X10 available to try. Electronista had an opportunity to try the now near-final Android smartphone and came away fairly impressed with the progress on the company's first Google-based smartphone. Read after the story jump for the full take and implications.

The X10 like some Android phones is a mixture of customization and absolute reference design, though as with phones like the HTC Hero, that's not necessarily a drawback. Our example was running Android 2.0, but like HTC, Sony Ericsson customizes the front end experience somewhat. More important are the customizations: everything from the contacts to the media player (dubbed Mediascape) is much more visual. We get the impression the highly stylized contact view may irk those who want a more direct look, but Mediascape is much more advanced than what Google supplies; it provides a fairly elegant, visual look at your music, movies and videos as well as a better interface for actually controlling it.

There are also a handful of productivity apps from Moxier, though these would have needed account setups that we clearly weren't ready to implement on a demo unit. An Office-supporting document editor was onboard, however.

Android 2.0 is on the phone at present and has all the features you'd expect, including the new browser and Google Maps. We'd heard of performance issues with early demo versions of the X10, but the example at CES appeared to be more polished and ran quickly -- which it needs to do, as it uses a 1GHz Snapdragon processor. It's not certain if Sony Ericsson will push Android 2.1 on to the phone, though that's a logical conclusion given that the Nexus One already uses the newer OS.

Design-wise, the phone is comfortable to hold, stylish and simple. We do wish its creator found a way to justify an oleophobic touchscreen, however, as it was prone to showing many visible fingerprints.

Regardless of the updates, we're looking forward to the new XPERIA arriving soon; it should officially reach North America through Canada's Rogers in the spring. It's the first Sony Ericsson phone that we've been genuinely interested in for a long time and quite possibly its first smartphone to truly catch on where the XPERIA X1 and Satio have been given lukewarm treatment at best.

The company needs the success as it has lost half its market share in the space of a year, owing in no small part to its lack of a "halo" device like Apple's iPhone or even Motorola's Droid. We're not certain Sony Ericsson can even reach Droid levels yet, but it doesn't need to. It just needs to draw attention and mend the firm's tattered reputation, which has been hurt both by the lack of smartphones and an often too-similar mix of mid-range feature phones.

7. Aldiko app – The Aldiko Google Android app, an ebook application is perfect for bookworms. It lets users download titles directly from its own store or transfer them from your very own ePub titles. Those with an eReader can use this to back up books in case of a battery-based emergency.

8. Quickpedia app – This version of Wikipedia for Google Android is far more slick than the web browser version as it also allows users to find out information about places around them with the Nearby feature, using the built in GPS.

9. Toddler Lock app – This application is good for those who curious toddlers who like fiddling with the Google Android, thinking of it as a toy. Not long after the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 became available, info on the impeding release and expected price of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 came up - for the UK at least. And not a moment too soon - Sony Ericsson can't afford to wait till everyone gets a Nexus One.

The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 is expected to arrive in the UK on February 19th, with a recommended retail price of 550 British pounds (610 euro or 885 US dollars) for an unlocked handset. The XPERIA X10 is currently up for preorder for a slightly lower price - 500 pounds (554 euro, 800 US dollars), which puts it closer to the price of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2.

The XPERIA X10 is a Sony Ericsson first - both on the Android and the Snapdragon front. With a heavily customized UI running on a 4" capacitive touchscreen with 854 x 480 pixels resolution, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 can hold its own even against the Nexus One.

Entah, dari sejak awal gak pernah tertarik. Awal mulanya karena produk awal iPhone yang gak bisa MMS, gak bisa video recording, bluetooth terbatas, dan seterusnya hal2 yang "nggak banget" di produk awal, tapi harganya waktu itu (dan juga sekarang) mahalnya minta ampun(!), jadi deh gak pernah suka sama iPhone sampai sekarang.
Buat apa beli iPhone belasan juta kalau dengan harga kurang dari setengahnya bisa dapat merk lain dengan fitur hampir sama bahkan kameranya lebih besar dalam resolusi dan juga lebih terjamin kualitasnya?

Aku barusan membandingin, dimensinya si Rachael dengan menggunakan kertas bedasarkan panjang dan lebar.

IMHO, mengejutkan, ternyata walaupun ulkuranya 4 inch, tetapi lebarnya tidak selebar bold, jadi sangat nyaman di tangan,

Kalau dibandingin dengan ipod touch, ternyata hanya kepanjangan sedikit saja.

Sangat menarik.

Ericsson presents 3D maps on the Xperia X10

Ericsson Labs has introduced a new API, called 3D Landscape. Along with it, they have also posted a short video demonstration, which really managed to get us excited about the new technology and its possible application in the future. In short, 3D Landscape is like Google Maps, but in full 3D! All the buildings and objects on the satellite map are in 3D, which actually looks very cool. And it runs pretty smooth too, judging by what we see on the video, where 3D Landscape is demoed on a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, although the developer says that the software is also available for Java environment. For now, the SDK libraries released by Ericsson Labs include 3D maps for Stockholm, but more are on the way. It would be too cool to see such technology used in a GPS navigation app, but we guess all is in the hands of devs now.

XPERIA X10 – Stellas Favorite Phone

Already from day one the X10 has been my daughters favorite. It’s something about that big capacitive touch screen and the UI of X10 that apparently makes it very intuitive to use. There’s really huge amounts of apps and games for kids on Android Market and over time Stella has gotten some favorites which you find in the list below. Please add your tips among the comments if you have suggestions on more apps for her to enjoy!

It all started with me downloading an app called Toddler Lock that does just that, locks everything except the screen which makes colorful symbols and fun sounds when touched. However this app had a “loop-hole” which she found within minutes. If you long press on the center button it still brings up the Android recent apps list and from there she started multitasking :-)

So now she has taken one of my three desktops for her favorite apps and she plays around with them using the recent apps button to multitask between them.. pretty amazing how quickly kids learn new stuff! She even made an almost historic quote a few days ago -”Oh No! Dad has re-flashed his phone again, all my games are gone” – Quite a little mobile phone geek for being 2 and a half.. :-)

So here’s the list of apps and games she’s playing with right now. (For more information about each app and the brilliant developers behind them just click the links)

Toddler Lock was the first one. It’s still great but has lost a bit of here attention now when she’s found more advanced stuff, I guess she’s getting old already :-)

Zebra Paint has been a favorite for a long time now. It’s basically a digital coloring book where you choose color and then touch paintings to paint. In this one she’s also learnt to use the submenu button, choose “new” and switch to another painting. You’ll see it in the video below. As you’ll see she sees it as a game where the goal is to fill the entire painting with one color before going to the next. I guess she’s more competitive than creative ;-)

Farm Animals has a grid of a few common farm animals and when clicked the phone makes the animal sounds. Simple but great fun for Stella! I especially like the cool design of the animals.

Monkey Kick Off was her favorite for a long time as well. A very simple (and well-known from browser flash-based gaming) game where you just tap the screen at the right time to make a monkey kick a ball as far as possible. This is also very addictive for us grown-ups!

Kids Paint is a simple painting app where the brush change color and apperance for every new line, very simple but Stella enjoys it a lot! You see her using that a bit in the video as well.

Abduction is a very good game that has beautiful design and uses the accelerometer. Stella thinks it’s a bit hard to play but really loves that Cow that plays the lead role in it. Definitely fun for her dad as well!

Touch! 4Kids is a rather simple game where different animals and stuff come flying across the screen and you need to touch them before they pass by. Great sounds and has a toddler mode which makes time restrictions etc go away if it’s too hard.

Touch Cat is the most recent new one she likes. It’s basicly just a picture of a cat on the screen and when you touch it the phone vibrates like a purring cat. This is probably the first one we really disagree about, I don’t really see the point but Stella enjoys it a lot.. I guess age does matter ;-)

As said I’m blown away by how fast she’s learning new things I download for her and it really has made me think a lot about the level of intuivity this platform has. It almost feels wrong telling her not to touch the screen on our PCs and Macs at home now since I guess most gadgets will actually have touch screens when her generation grows up. She was also quite frustrated with her grandmothers K810 over the holidays when nothing happened when she swiped the fingers cross the screen.

Here’s a clip showing her playing around a bit, it’s been quite a while since I shot it though so some of you might notice the X10 she uses has rather old SW and I can assure you that Stellas technique have improved quite a lot since then as well

Game, ABDUCTION

Abduction! for Android test

Alien invasion! All sorts of intergalactic villains enter the Earth´s atmosphere and get down to... unscrupulously stealing our own herds of domestic animals. The brave farmers, however, cannot afford to and will not panic (not to mention most of them wouldn´t anyway, given they tend to play FarmVille on regular and seem pretty obdurate to the tricks of fortune), plus they are aided by the very same loyal and devoted droves of domesticated animals, subject of the hostile abduction endeavour. While taking off the ground, the alien ships seem to have dragged along chunks of the Earth´s crust that the brave victims can now use to get their hands, hooves, paws and whatever limb have you on the vile other-worldly beings.

In a nutshell, that´s the "story" of Abduction! that you can get from Android Market. It´s quite similar to Doodle Jump (and several hundred other titles) for the iPhone and, say, Icy Tower for PC. In other words you will have to jump upon and off various platforms with your main goal being to reach the uppermost level. Of course, you´ll be gathering diverse items that bestow bonus skills to their owners, like, you can jump higher, get to a greater or lower number of accessible platforms etc. Abduction! is controlled via your device accelerometer entirely and offers several types of gameplay like fast action, challenge mode and, of course, single player campaign. The latter gives you the option to play as a mighty cow that feels pretty irritated at Life, the Universe and Everything (later you will be able to opt for characters like sheep, kangaroo, deer etc.). Anyway, the cow is your first, virtual alter ego on your quest of becoming the saviour of the world´s population of domestic animals. You will see and find yourself in various locations throughout the game and while most of them are rather cartoon-like, meaning with basic graphics and visual effects, just like the game they carry their own spirit and atmosphere that is both entertaining and likeable. We have to admit that our favourite character is the cow, so we are eagerly waiting to see Marvel or Milka offer the brave animal a proper industry contract.

Keluar sih diperkirakan antara middle Feb sampai middle Maret.
Kalau harga, hmmm susah juga yah diprediksi. Tetapi melihat beberapa situs di Inggris seperti Expansys dan [tautan dihapus] UK.
Diperkirakan sih antatra 8 - 9 juta, dan itu belum harga official.

The XPERIA X10, also known in Japan simply as Xperia, came to the massive wireless carrier DoCoMo yesterday amid great reception. However, what’s truly odd about this 1Ghz, 4 inch screen Android phone is that the battery life figures have been relatively unknown up to this point. Even Sony Ericsson’s global site has never listed the battery life figures in its specifications. This left many curious as to how long it could actually last. I had several ideas, based on Sony Ericsson’s reputation of trying to have as much battery life as possible and I can now finally confirm that it’s pretty decent.

According to the official specification sheet for the Japanese Xperia (same model as the XPERIA X10), the battery life is:

Talk time (2G/Edge): 270 minutes (4 hours, 30 minutes)
Talk Time (3G): 290 minutes (4 hours, 5 minutes)

We’re also seeing 230 hours standby for 2G, and and about 200 hours standby for 3G-only mode, or 300 for automatic signal mode (switches between 2G and 3G).

DoCoMo, tepatnya NTT DoCoMo itu adalah operator selular GSM terbesar di Jepang.

Di Jepang semua hape dijual dengan sistem bundling operator, dan namanya pun diubah sesuai dengan penomoran operator.

Masing2 vendor punya kode sendiri, misal SO untuk Sony Ericsson, SH untuk Sharp, dan lain-lain. Dan sebagian besar handset yang diproduksi oleh Vendor ditetapkan spesifikasinya oleh operator. Jadi untuk series yang sama, misal series 906 spesifikasinya hampir sama rata untuk semua vendor, cuma beda desain dan beberapa aplikasi/fitur khusus saja. Jadi nantinya ada SH906, SO906, dan seterusnya, atau ada embel-embel kode tertentu di belakangnya yang khusus untuk fitur/aplikasi tertentu dari vendor, misal CS untuk cyber-shot, atau Bravia, dan lain-lain. Pengecualian biasanya untuk smartphone dengan sistem operasi terbuka semisal WinMo atau sekarang Android. Xperia X10 di DoCoMo dinamai dengan DoCoMo Smartphone Xperia™ SO-01B. CMIIW.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10: PS3 Remote Play App coming soon?

Some exciting news for all those looking to pick up the upcoming Xperia X10 handset from Sony Ericsson, as the company has hinted that the handset could receive a PS3 Remote Play App – similar to that seen on the Sony Ericsson Aino.

As reported from Pocket-Lint, the Sony Ericsson Aino is already available to buy now and features full PS3 access thanks to the Remote Play function as seen on the PSP handheld console.

The Xperia X10 is due to release in February, and Sony Ericsson’s Christopher David has stated that it ‘makes sense’ to include PS3 features within the Xperia X10.

How does PS3 streaming to your Xperia X10 sound to you? With all the other features that it packs, it could well be dubbed ‘the super phone’ with the way things are going.
