Introducing Nokia N97 mini

STUTTGART, Germany – Following in the footsteps of its bigger, older brother, the Nokia N97 mini was unveiled this morning at Nokia World 09. Sporting new homescreen widgets and a host of usability improvements, the N97 mini still packs 8GB of storage, a 3.2-inch touchscreen and full QWERTY keyboard into its 14.2mm thin frame. It’s also the first Nokia device to sport Lifecasting with Ovi – a new partnership with the world’s largest social network, Facebook. The N97 mini is based on the same tilt display design of its N97 big brother, built into a smaller body complete with new design touches.

Lifecasting enables users to update their Facebook status directly from the device’s homescreen. It doesn’t stop there though as location details can also be updated, enabling a whole new level of social sharing and communication. With the ability to completely customise the homescreen, users will be able to make their N97 mini truly unique.

The 3.2-inch touchscreen opens up a new world of software improvements including flick scrolling and a range of new experiences including new homescreen widgets. What’s more, the software update will also be available next month for existing N97 devices.

The Nokia N97 mini works seamlessly with Ovi Store where users can add new applications, widgets, ringtones and other content to their device. It also sports Ovi Maps and comes with integrated A-GPS and compass along with with voice navigation for driving or walking. Over 155,000 points of interest are also available through Lonely Planet guides and restaurants through Michelin Guides.

Up to 12 days standby time are on offer and up to 28 hours music playback (in offline mode). The 5-megapixel camera comes with dual LED flash and video light, along with a Carl Zeiss Tessar lens. The 8GB of on board memory can be expanded to 24GB with the addition of a 16GB microSD card.

Nokia X3 revealed

STUTTGART, Germany – Joining the all-new Nokia X6 music device is the new Nokia X3, the first Series 40 device to come Ovi Store enabled. Sharing some of the X6’s design cues, the Nokia X3 slider sports a 3.2-megapixel camera, a diminutive frame and 2.2-inch screen. Stereo speakers, dedicated music keys and support for up to 16GB of storage via microSD card make for a nifty mobile music device. The X3 also sports an active homescreen where users will be able to see their contacts, friends and current music playing. Music lovers will also be able to continue listening on flights thanks to flight mode.

Bluetooth 2.1 is supported with stereo audio profiles for wireless musical enjoyment. Wire fans will be able to use standard headphones thanks to the 3.5mm headphone jack. Full speed USB 2.0 makes music transfer quick and easy and music can be managed via the Ovi Player PC client and Windows Media Player 11.

Messaging is well supported too. Alongside a common inbox for SMS and MMS in conversational view, Nokia Xpress Audio Messaging is supported and Nokia Messaging 2.0 brings users’ existing email and IM accounts to the device.

ABN Amro now changed its name to RBS so forget about that... I was considering some cells from Samsung or LG before buying N86.

huruf dan angka gak bisa dipatenkan. tapi sub-brand bisa. XPERIA itu nama paten. X1, X, atopun 1 bukan. makanya ditulis XPERIA™ X1, bukan XPERIA X1™ atopun XPERIA™ X1™.

capacitive screens handle handwriting recognition so poorly, especially when it comes to asian characters, e.g. chinese, kanji, etc. that's a big drawback if those characters are part of your daily life.

Dan multi touch juga bisa diimplementasikan ke Resistive Touchscreen... Makanya itu gw ngakak liat komen2 di [tautan dihapus] seputar orng2 belagu yg ngomong blg Resistive Touchscreen nggak bisa multi touch.

Multi touch itu adalah fitur dari touchscreen jadi baik dia tipe Resistive ataupun Capasitive pasti bisa. Dan overall gw setuju sama TRO... Diluar sana ada gadget yg menggunakan Capasitive Touchscreen dengan fitur jauh lbh bang..bang..boom ketimbang iPhone 3G.

Yup...spt yg anda katakan tapi dalam penggunaan fitur multi-touch sendiri kan berarti lebih menggunakan jari ketimbang stylus biar bisa 'multi' ketimbang 'single'...

X6, BL40, Omnia HD, HTC Hero banyak bener keinginan gw. Cuma 1 aja bisa kebeli. Entah yg mana

Kok perkiraan harga N97 mini sama X6 kan 450 sama 459 Euro, berarti seharga sama N97 sekarang, kok kayaknya agak bentrok ya?

kalo specnya ampir sama dan berada di satu line, gak ada salahnya sih harganya mepet2 sama.
kayak SE....5 seri ngumpul semua di rentang harga 2.1-2.4jt.

MOga2 X6 paling murah(biar gw bisa beli)
Tapi kok Nokia kayaknya gak ada kemajuan berarti dalam segi hardware buat hp2 S60 V5nya ya?
Procie masih 434MHz, sedangkan SE SAtio dan Samsung Omnia HD udah 600 MHz
RAMnya juga, masih stuck di 128MB, sedangkan 2 saingannya uda 256MB
*Hal ini gw rasakan pas gw main game Prince of Persia HD yg gw download di ipmart, menurut komen2 di sana, di Omnia HD gamenya lancar jaya, mulus, sedangkan di N97 dan 5800 masih lemot2(abis RAM 40MB ui)

N97 mini disasarkan utk menjadi versi "ringan" dari N97 dan bukan utk pengganti N97 jadi secara hardware tidak ada peningkatan secara signifikan..

X6 juga dikatakan sbg succesor dari 5800 XM. Kalo X6 menggunakan procie 600Mhz, RAM 256Mb atau lebih dan menggunakan PowerVR SGX graphics (dimana inilah penyebab sbrnya kenapa game Prince Of Persia HD dimainkan mulus. Bkn karena RAM) plus kamera 8 MPX maka akan terjadi gap besar antara X6 dan 5800 XM yg dapat berakibat mereka yg pengen 5800 XM dan blm sempat membeli akan batal beli 5800 XM dan jelas akan mematikan pasaran N97/N97 mini. Belum lagi Nokia sedang melakukan eksperimen utk kamera 12 MPX.

Jakarta - Satu dari tiga jagoan baru Nokia, yakni N97 Mini tak akan langsung masuk Indonesia setelah diperkenalkan untuk pertama kali di ajang Nokia World di Stuttgart, Jerman beberapa waktu lalu.

Regina Hutama Poli, Corporate Communications Manager Nokia Indonesia memastikan bahwa ponsel mungil ini paling cepat baru akan hadir di Tanah Air pada kuartal 4 atau akhir tahun 2009. "Tapi paling telat di awal tahun 2010," ujarnya kepada detikINET, Selasa (8/9/2009).

N97 Mini merupakan suksesor dari 'sang kakak, N97. Meski berukuran lebih kecil, produk ini tetap powerful. Diperkuat dengan sistem operasi Symbian S60 5th Edition, ponsel ini dilengkapi Wi Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3G, FM transmitter dan kamera 5 megapiksel.

Dari sisi eksterior, N97 Mini dipercantik dengan layar sentuh berukuran 3,2 inch serta keyboard QWERTY sliding. Handset ini juga menjadi ponsel Nokia pertama yang terintegrasi lebih erat dengan Facebook.

Nokia telah sepakat dengan Facebook agar pengguna bisa update lokasi dan status secara langsung melalui account Nokia Ovi.

Meski berukuran mini, tapi bukan berarti harga yang dipatok Nokia atas ponsel ini ikut-ikutan minim. Pengguna butuh 450 euro atau sekitar US$ 645 dolar untuk bisa membawa pulang N97 Mini. Hanya sedikit lebih murah rasanya dengan N97 yang di Indonesia dipatok di kisaran Rp 8 jutaan.(ash/faw)
