The new Sony Ericsson R300 Radio and R306 Radio place the first combined AM/FM radio experience at the heart of the mobile phone.

Delhi, India – 24th January 2008 – Sony Ericsson today announced the launch of two new mobile phones, the R300 Radio and R306 Radio, both designed to deliver a credible radio-listening experience to a global audience, and ideally suited to emerging markets such as India.

“The R300 Radio and R306 Radio allow you to tune-in to your favourite music shows or sports reports, across both AM and FM broadcasts,” said Howard Lewis, Vice President and Head of Entry Level Products at Sony Ericsson. “They certainly look and sound the part, offering a radio-inspired design and feature set on a choice of either a candy bar or clamshell phone.”

True radio design
Both of these new phones are designed to have a clear radio look-and-feel. Sit either phone on its side and let the radio blast out through the dedicated loudspeaker…in stereo in the case of the R306 Radio.

Preset buttons on the front of both the R300 Radio and R306 Radio let you switch easily between your favourite stations. It takes just one click to boost the volume when you want to share music on the radio or the live action from the sports ground.

These two phones really let you get the most from the radio. Set it as your alarm clock or record the final moments of your team’s winning match and play back the commentary again and again. You can even record a clip of a song and use it as your ringtone.

Who sang that song?
TrackID™ is now a familiar feature on many of Sony Ericsson’s high tier phones. It now comes as standard on both the R300 Radio and R306 Radio, turning listeners into instant music experts! Record a clip of a song from an external source, such as a sound system in a coffee shop or bar, and find out within seconds who sang it, the name of the track and which album it is from. All in just one click.

Play it loud!
With the R300 Radio you can listen-in via the stereo headphones provided or ‘play it loud’ thanks to the high performance speaker integrated into the phone. Switch on 3D sound enhancement or volume boost with the dedicated Audio Enhancer key on the phone.

True radio experience
The R306 Radio opens up into a clamshell with two integrated stereo speakers that face the listener. Again featuring the Audio Enhancer key, you can activate volume boost when listening to the radio through the speakers or 3D sound enhancement when you have the stereo headset plugged in, ensuring a first-class radio listening experience even when it is noisy around you. Perfect harmony
Both phones feature Bluetooth™ technology, allowing you to handle your phone calls handsfree with optional accessories such as the Bluetooth™ Headset HBH-PV703.

The R300 Radio offers a built-in VGA camera and the R306 Radio boasts a step-up to a 1.3 megapixel camera on-board. So whether you are listening to the radio or not, these two new phones are set to hit the right note.

The R300 Radio will launch in two colours: Antique Copper and Steel Black. It is a GSM/GPRS 900/1800/1900 phone that will be available in selected markets from Q2 2008. The R300a Radio is a GSM/GPRS 850/1800/1900 phone, available in the same timeframe.

The R306 Radio will launch in two colours: Coffee Black and Champagne White. It is a GSM/GPRS 900/1800/1900 phone that will be available in selected markets from Q3 2008.

Kayanya sih iya tuh yang bulet di belakang R300 itu speaker.
Dua hape Radio ini punya speaker gede2. Mudah2an kualitasnya bagus, soalnya di spec disebut stereo speaker.

Kenapa SE gak bikin stereo speaker di semua hape Walkman aja sih?

Hp ber Radio tanpa antena external or Hf udah ada kan sebelum-nya, spt I-Mobile, type-nya lupa, so malah kalo boleh dibilang justru merk2 terkenal/besar malah kadang kalah duluan dari merk2 yg gak gitu populer, apalagi dgn adanya Hp2 China...yg mana fitur2nya mantap

Final words

Sony Ericsson R306 Radio is to join the low-to-midrange company portfolio. It pretty much has the basics covered with 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, Smart search dialing. The advanced radio features include stereo speakers, RDS, TrackID, broadcast recording and the dedicated radio controls.

The scarce built-in memory and the lack of a card slot tend to limit it in many ways. We could also go on about a tad better display resolution and better imaging quality. But probably our most important grudge of all with this radio-centric device is the need to plug the headset in for the radio to work properly.

Now that's a common nuisance in all modern handsets, but on a phone that's supposed to be "all-radio" it becomes much more obtrusive. The huge headset jack makes things even worse. Some new design to deal with that would have been much appreciated. And in the end, a dedicated cable aerial such as the one of O2 Cocoon would have meant a lot less hassle.

Anyway, R306 is a low-ender after all. There will always be a market for down-to-earth entry level handsets. Plus, Sony Ericsson R306 gets its edge from the vintage radio looks that give it a distinct personality.

Akhirnya g beli juga nih R300i , cukup Ok dari segi design dan banyak org/temen2 bilang antik lah, aneh tp aneh yg cakep, tipis, enteng, dsb-nya

gak dpt k.data, utk sync ke SE PCSuite gak bisa, apa gak support yah (K660i lancar jaya), trus barusan coba terima file via BT dari PC lancar, tp kalo dari Hp ke PC gak mau, kalo ke Hp lain mau ?

respon menu sih masih Ok lah, cuma kalo ketik SMS.....duh...lemot bo !

kan waktu itu beli buat acara SE doank kan

yg dijual dari HP ini adalah fitur radio. salah 1 nya adalah radio AM. Tapi kemaren gw liat ada 1 HP samsung seri B (B110?) yg punya fitur ini juga. hanya saja pas search dalamnya, ngak ketemu fitur AM ini. di menu radio cuma nongol "FM". yah, ngak ada HF, ga ada antena, jadi ga bisa coba.

Rasanya emang bener2 aneh SE sampe bikin Radio sebagai seri tersendiri

Yup betul, g beli cuma utk acara SE yg mana banyak yg pake Nokia (langsung aja deh), bahkan spt panitianya...jelas2 dia pegang/make N90 yg segede gaban itu kan hehehe

Tapi ya gak apa2 sih, g kan fans SE walau akhirnya cuma 1 mingguan g pake

Hp ini utk dengerin lagu, baik MP3 or Radio kenceng lho, apalagi Radio ada spt tombol utk boost jadi kenceng lagi walau volume dah mentok

kayanya sih pake ui yg lama deh, gak bisa utk muter video dan rec video, tp bisa rec-radio ada dua pilihan quality, normal dan best

Gak bisa sync ke PC Suite, cuma bisa MassStroge (hehehe padahal cuma 8MB), BT Ok, lancar2 aja, tentu gak A2DP lah, cuma gak bisa ganti Themes, coba isntall gak bisa tuh, padahal utk R300i koq

Java bisa, d/l dari web nya s/w free converter, lumayan lengkap

layar cukup bening, cuma koq spt agak gak jelas yah, gimana ya bening tp kaya gak focus gitu, lain dgn burem or spt layar kotor...., apa pas dpt yg gak sempurna yah

SMS lemot tuh misalnya ketik huruf A trus B, nah nungguinnya lama...hehehe kaya Hp jaman dulu lah....

apa lagi yah, model tipis sih dan cukup antik/beda/keren lah, sayang fitur, oya g beli hp baru kali ini gak peke anti gores, padahal krn Hp beli iseng so g perlakukan asal aja, tp sampe terakhir tetap mulus 99% lho, cukup kuat juga terutama layar/display nya

Channel Radio yg kita safe bisa kita kasih nama, misalnya Prambors, HardRock FM or yg lain

Camera VGA, tp zoom bisa kalo res di bawah itu, QVGA dan CIF, hasil kalo di luar sih masih Ok2 lah, tapi tetep termasuk jelek (agak2 blur gak focus, cuma warna masih natural)

Yup, G700i batal, trus G900i juga kayanya batal, g malah ambil P1i baru deh, alesan g pribadi G700/900 lom HSDPA

Trus P1i : layar lebih gede dan QWERTY (walau ada yg seneng dgn G700/900 karena gak QWERTY, not for me )
