Dari Nokia Press Release :

Nokia debuts 'Touch and Type' design with the latest Nokia X3

August 17, 2010

Espoo, Finland - In a move to continue driving innovation in its market leading mobile phone range, Nokia today unveils the super slim Nokia X3 Touch and Type, with a unique combination of a touch screen and traditional 12 button phone keypad. As Nokia's first 'Touch and Type' phone, the Nokia X3 allows people to tap quickly on the bright color touch screen, as well as enjoy the familiarity of the full keypad for quick fire text messages and phone calls. Expected to be on sale in the third quarter, the Nokia X3 is expected to retail for approximately EUR 125, excluding taxes and subsidies.

"Innovation is not just a high-end game. The Nokia X3 is a great example of bringing new consumer value to lower price points," said Mary McDowell, Executive Vice President of Mobile Phones at Nokia.

"With the Nokia X3 we are giving consumers the best of both worlds by combining a touch screen and a keypad in an affordable device. We have given people a larger screen with clear icons and menus plus kept critical keys such as the send and end keys. We've also added dedicated function keys for important links like music and text messaging," she said.

"We have designed the Nokia X3 to be a touch and type device because typing is ideal for SMS and social networking where fast and frequent input is needed, while touch is ideal for functions such as setting alarms, smooth browsing and controlling applications like music and games.

"Our research tells us consumers who have invested years in becoming fast one-handed, one-thumb texters want to maintain their speedy edge for SMS, chat and instant messaging - yet enjoy the benefits of touch as well," continued McDowell.

With its sleek and modern design coming in at a very thin 9.6mm - making it one of the slimmest Nokia phones ever - the Nokia X3 slips easily into the purse or the pocket, and looks the part with its brushed aluminum back cover which will come in five vibrant colors designed to suit any mood or wardrobe.

Despite its size, the Nokia X3 is jam-packed with features including 3G, WLAN, a music player and an FM radio.

Lovers of the snapshot and social networks will enjoy a great 5 megapixel camera with 4X digital zoom that can take both still and video images.

The Nokia X3 also features dedicated music and messaging keys allowing fast access to important Ovi services including social and entertainment applications. In addition to Ovi Mail, people's favorite consumer email and chat accounts can be pushed direct to the phone via Nokia Messaging.

With a gentle glide over the touch screen people can go online and get access to many services including thousands of apps from Ovi Store. In certain markets, the new phone will also be available with Ovi Music Unlimited, enabling the owner to access a virtually limitless range of the latest hit music that can be stored on the available 16GB memory card.

The Nokia X3 - affordable and accessible touch and type which is simple-to-use and beautifully designed. The Nokia X3 Touch and Type sits alongside the Nokia X3-00, a slider with strong music functionality, which was launched in September 2009.

The Nokia Mini Speaker MD-11. Pocket-sized speakers for big sound

Music lovers can boost the Nokia X3's inbuilt speaker with some extra 'oomph' with the new MD-11, a light pocket-size speaker with great audio quality. For even more fun, you can connect two for stereo sound - a great way to get the music out of your phone and enjoy with friends. The Nokia Mini Speaker MD-11 is estimated to retail for EUR 25 excluding taxes and subsidies.

Langsung gw tutup aja tu telepon, takutnya makan pulsa.

Tarif berlangganan Rp2500/7hari. Akses Rp250/mnt"

Cape de sama operator2 sekarang... ditebengin berbagai macam iklan.
Mending kalau gratis, saudara gw yang pake Mentari udah ngeluh aja pulsanya sering ilang gara2 nerima SMS entah apa aja isinya sampah semua, tanpa diminta.

Berikut laporan lengkapnya:

Sony Ericsson Reports Second Quarter 2010 Results

16 July 2010

Q2 Highlights:
  • Income before taxes excl. restructuring charges increases to Euro 63 million
  • Positive cash flow generated from operating activities
  • ASP rises to Euro 160

The consolidated financial summary for Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB (Sony Ericsson) for the second quarter ended June 30, 2010 is as follows:

Bert Nordberg, President, Sony Ericsson commented, “Our second quarter results show that the company continued the momentum seen in the first quarter as a result of our focus on the value market and the success of new smartphones; Xperia™ X10 and Vivaz™, launched during the first quarter. These models, along with the Xperia™ X10 mini and Xperia™ X10 mini pro which started shipping at the end of the second quarter, have been well received  by operators and we are now well positioned for long term growth.”

Sales for the quarter were Euro 1,757 million, a 25% increase sequentially and a 4% increase year-on-year.  Units shipped in the quarter were 11 million, a 5% increase sequentially and a 20% decrease year-on- year due to the reduction in size of the product portfolio. Average selling price (ASP) increased 19% sequentially and 31% year-on-year to Euro 160 during the quarter due to improved product and geographical mix, as well as positive currency effects.

Income before taxes for the quarter excluding restructuring charges was a profit of Euro 63 million, illustrating the positive impact of the cost reduction programme and favourable product mix.

The transformation programme, which started in mid-2008 is now in its final stages and on target to reduce annual operating expenses by Euro 880 million by the end of the year.  Since the start of the program Sony Ericsson has reduced its global workforce by approximately 4,000 people to reach a total workforce of approximately 7,800 by June 30, 2010. The total restructuring charges taken to date for the programme are Euro 374 million.

As of June 30, 2010 Sony Ericsson retained a net cash position of Euro 609 million, an increase of Euro 46 million sequentially mainly due to operating results, tight financial management of working capital, as well as positive currency effects.

Market share in unit base for the quarter remained flat and is estimated to be around 4%.

Sony Ericsson maintains a forecast of slight growth in units in the global handset market in 2010.

Dari: NEGRI Electronics Blog :

The Nokia N9 (N900’s Big Brother- figuratively)

It's been a while since we got access to a fresh proto like this guys. Sorry to have to keep you all in suspense, but we are going to do a full write up with video of this bad boy in the next day or so. We didn’t want to leave you completely out of the loop, so here are some “teaser” images of the Baddest Nokia Device known to man! Oh, before I forget – YES it does have North American 3G (850/1900)!! Come back soon for the “rest of the story”!

Di-post juga di gsmarena :

QWERTY-enabled Nokia N9 surfaces, runs on Symbian^3

We have just been treated to several live shots of what seems to be the yet unannounced Nokia N9. The Symbian^3-powered smartphone with a tilting slide-out QWERTY keyboard packs an 8 megapixel autofocus camera and it has already been leaked once before.

Unfortunately, the Nokia N9 doesn’t share the xenon flash of its N8 sibling, but goes for a modest dual-LED unit instead. There is also no confirmation yet if the N9 can do HD video.

While the source is unable to provide any further specs about what seems to be the Nokia new smartphone flagship, it seems that Wi-Fi, GPS and 3G with HSDPA are pretty safe bets. A 3.5” screen with a resolution of 360 x 640 pixels is also pretty much certain.

The guys who posted the photos of the prototype, promise to review it thoroughly in the following days so we should learn more about the device soon.

This leak is somewhat surprising, given that Nokia made an official statement that the N8 will be the last Symbian-running member of the Nseries. We guess that there is still a good chance that the prototype will not go by N9 but will join the Eseries instead.

C - Mass market models, from budget to middle and high price segment devices. These are the typical Nokia products, can include S60 smartphones;
E - Corporate solutions, endowed with business functions;
X - Multimedia models, aimed at music playback in the first place;
N - Top smartphones, the 9 index for MeeGo-based solutions;
S - Image models, successors to the 8000-series. In contrast to other models, these devices may have proper names.

Nambah lagi nih keluarganya Corby... sekarang udah pake Android.
Mantap Corby.

Dari gsmarena:

Samsung I5500 is a Corby that runs Android 2.1 Eclair?

We've seen Samsung Corby phones in a variety of shapes and sizes, but now rumor has it that a new member of the group - the Samsung I5500 Corby - will run Android and become the first Corby to earn a smartphone degree.

We don't know much about this new Corby, except that it recently got a Wi-Fi certification for the b/g/n protocols. It received FCC certification as well, so we're looking at 3G, Bluetooth and GPS for the Samsung I5500. The camera resolution is unknown, but it probably won't be more than 3MP.

The rumors add Android 2.1 Eclair and Corby branding to the mix and an expected price of 200 euro putting it at the low end of the price range for an Android phone.

We don't have a photo of the Samsung I5500 Corby yet - the photo on the left is a quick mockup. In-the-wild photos can't be far behind though.

IDC Press Release:

Mobile Phone Recovery Continues with Nearly 22% Growth in First Quarter, According to IDC

29 Apr 2010
FRAMINGHAM, Mass. April 29, 2010 – The worldwide mobile phone market grew 21.7% in the first quarter of 2010 (1Q10), a strong rebound from the market contraction in Q1 2009. Growth was fuelled by increased demand for converged mobile devices, more commonly known as smartphones, and the global economic recovery. According to the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Mobile Phone Tracker, vendors shipped 294.9 million units in the first quarter of 2010 compared to 242.4 million units in the first quarter of 2009.

Converged mobile devices, which allow consumers and business people to trade wireless e-mails for example, have become increasingly popular as a wider and more powerful array of devices have become available. The device class and a recovering traditional mobile phone category helped the market avoid a repeat of 1Q09, when the market declined 16.6% in the midst of the global economic recession.

Growing demand for smartphones also helped Research In Motion (RIM) move into the top 5 vendor rankings for the first time. RIM, which replaced Motorola in the top 5, tied Sony Ericsson for the number 4 position in IDC's 1Q10 vendor rankings. RIM shipped 10.6 million units in the first quarter while Motorola, which had been a top 5 vendor since the inception of IDC's Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker in 2004, shipped 8.5 million units. Motorola, the number 2 overall vendor in 2004, registered a fifth place finish last year by virtue of its overall strength in the lower-growth traditional mobile phone category. Motorola has steadily lost share since 2004 when the market started its shift toward higher-end feature phones and smartphones. The ongoing shift has given rise to converged mobile device vendors such as RIM and Apple.

"The entrance of RIM into the top 5 underscores the sustained smartphone growth trend that is driving the global mobile phone market recovery," noted Kevin Restivo, senior research analyst with IDC's Worldwide Mobile Phone Tracker. "This is also the first time a vendor has dropped out of the top 5 since the second quarter of 2005, when Sony Ericsson grabbed the number 5 spot from BenQ Siemens."

"That the mobile phone market has rebounded by double digits year over year in a post-holiday quarter is definitely good news for the industry," said Ramon Llamas, senior research analyst with IDC's Mobile Devices Technology and Trends team. "Whereas last year we saw much uncertainty around demand and overall reluctance to introduce new devices, vendors have been very vocal about their intentions this year, with some even launching new devices in the first quarter of 2010. In addition, the continued emphasis on converged mobile devices points to greater revenue generation and profitability opportunities for vendors, which is a welcome change compared to the same quarter a year ago."

Market Outlook

IDC believes the worldwide mobile phone market rebound will continue in 2010, though not at the same growth rate as the first quarter. "It should be noted that the market's first-quarter growth, while impressive, is relative to one of the worst quarters in mobile phone industry history (1Q09)," noted Restivo. "The market's growth should not be taken as a proxy for future quarters nor annual growth. In fact, the results essentially match our first quarter projections. We are still expecting growth of 11% for 2010."

Regional Analysis

  • The Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) region started the year off with a strong quarter driven mainly by Greater China. Overall, a wider array of low-cost smartphones available across the countries is driving penetration. Touchscreen-enabled devices remained a hot segment of the market, helping to drive the demand for converged mobile devices across the region.
  • The Western European mobile phone market continued its rebound from the recession last quarter. The region's growth was driven by strong smartphone shipments compared to a year ago. New high-end devices were launched while inventories were cleared from the previous quarter. This paved the way for smartphone growth in the first quarter at the expense of the traditional phone category. Nonetheless, touchscreen feature phones and low-end devices, particularly from the Korean manufacturers, sold well in the first quarter.
  • As expected, the United States mobile phone market declined sequentially. User interest, however, remained high for smartphones thanks to the rollout of Google's Nexus One and new devices from Motorola. Meanwhile, feature phone shipment volumes, which have declined steadily in previous quarters, were buoyed by sustained interest in quick messaging devices.
  • In Canada, the first quarter was similar to that of the U.S. as significant Android phones, namely the Motorola Milestone and Samsung's Galaxy Spica, were introduced. There was also a continued emphasis by suppliers on quick messaging devices in the traditional mobile phone category.
  • The Latin American mobile phone market also rebounded in the first quarter due to higher demand from partners for feature phones and converged devices. Country currencies have stabilized as well, helping boost consumer spending on phones. Manufacturers and operators included social networking features in more phones sold in Latin America. Vendors are also planning for regional growth with the creation of local assembly plants.

Top Five Mobile Phone Vendors

Nokia started the year with a strong first-quarter unit shipment performance, driven by its top-selling 5130 and 2700 models. Shipments of 107.8 million in 1Q10 represented a nearly 16% improvement over the same quarter last year. The overall figures, however, fell short of the first-quarter high it set in 2008. Converged mobile device shipments increased sharply on a year-over-year basis due to top-selling models such as the 5230, 5800, 5530, and X6. However, average selling prices for converged mobile devices dropped to €155 in 1Q10, compared to €186 in the previous quarter. Nokia plans to ship the N8 (the first converged device to run the Symbian 3 operating system) in the third quarter. The N8 will cost €370, according to Nokia, and is expected to boost Nokia's overall ASP.

Samsung held steady as the number two vendor worldwide for the twelfth consecutive quarter with total shipment volumes greater than those of the next three vendors combined. Driving its results was a combination of new devices launched and expansion of distribution channels within emerging markets. Moreover, efforts to bring high end devices, including touchscreen phones and converged mobile devices, pushed ASPs higher. Samsung plans to launch more Android and bada-powered devices later this year while launching more touch-enabled devices for the mass-market.

LG Electronics remained the number three vendor worldwide with year-over-year shipment growth of nearly 20%, but declining revenue and profit due to seasonality and reduced prices. The abundance of feature phones at varying price points kept the company in good stead with carriers and customers, particularly within emerging markets where LG reaped triple digit growth. Still, the lack of a broad and deep smartphone portfolio made it vulnerable to competitor share gains, particularly within North America. LG plans to introduce several Android, Windows Mobile 6.5, and Windows Phone 7 devices later this year while expanding its global platform to reach new markets.

Research In Motion makes its first appearance among the top five vendors worldwide, with total shipments surpassing those of Motorola by nearly 2 million units. Research In Motion is the only vendor in the top 5 with a singular focus on smartphones, and as a result, the company enjoys the highest average selling prices within that group. Key to its success in the first quarter was the popularity of its BlackBerry Curve 8520 and BlackBerry Bold 9700 across multiple markets as well as its global prepaid offerings. Strong consumer adoption, particularly among text-crazy teens, has also fuelled demand for BlackBerry devices.

Sony Ericsson returned to profitability in the first quarter due to cost cutting and new product introductions. The joint venture launched six new handsets including three new Greenheart models - Aspen, Elm, and Hazel - as well as the Xperia X10 and Vivaz converged devices. Average selling prices rose 12% as Sony Ericsson pruned several less-profitable products from its lineup. However, overall shipments in the first quarter fell 28%. Three new converged devices – the Vivaz pro, Xperia X10 mini, and Xperia X10 mini pro – will ship towards end of the second quarter.
